Sam Houston State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine (SHSU-COM) invites applications for the position of
Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment . This leadership role oversees the planning, organization, and day-to-day operations of medical school admissions and recruitment and reports directly to the Director of Enrollment Services. This position is ideal for an experienced admissions or higher education professional who values collaboration, integrity, and student-centered work in a high-stakes professional school environment. The Associate Director plays a critical role in shaping recruitment strategy, stewarding the admissions process, and supporting the College’s mission to educate future physicians. Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership for admissions and recruitment operations for SHSU-COM Oversee recruitment activities, interview days, campus preview events, and pipeline programs including JAMP Ensure compliance with COCA, AACOM, and institutional policies and procedures Support and attend Admissions Committee meetings and admissions decision processes Collaborate with faculty, leadership, and external partners at the local, state, and national levels Oversee admissions reporting to AACOM, COCA, the Dean, and internal stakeholders Guide development and annual updates of admissions policies, procedures, and technical standards Support accreditation efforts through data collection, reporting, and staff education Lead and support admissions staff and contribute to a healthy, collaborative team culture Represent SHSU-COM in professional organizations and at recruitment events Assist with budget planning and operational decision-making Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field Five years of progressive experience in admissions, recruitment, student affairs, or higher education leadership Demonstrated experience providing strategic direction, leadership, and oversight Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field Experience in professional school or medical school admissions Familiarity with osteopathic medical education, COCA standards, or AACOM processes Why SHSU-COM
