
Overview
Senior Database Administrator. Our client is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support mission critical systems within a secure, onsite environment in Richardson, TX. This contractor role is essential to maintaining the performance, integrity, and security of complex database infrastructures. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and related database technologies, with experience supporting tools such as the Atlassian Suite, Cameo/Teamwork Cloud MBSE, SolidWorks, and GitLab. A formal degree is not required, though a BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a related field is preferred. Relevant hands-on experience is critical.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain high availability, scalable database systems.
Administer and optimize SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other database environments.
Manage data storage, indexing, and retrieval for mission critical applications.
Support and integrate databases for tools including:
Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence)
Cameo/Teamwork Cloud MBSE
SolidWorks
GitLab
Perform database tuning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Ensure compliance with security standards in classified environments.
Support development teams with schema design, query optimization, and automation.
Stay current with emerging database technologies and recommend improvements.
Required Qualifications
Active Top Secret Clearance (must be active on Day 1).
CompTIA Security+ Certification.
8+ years of DBA experience with strong expertise in:
SQL
PostgreSQL
MongoDB
Strong understanding of database architecture and performance tuning.
Experience with database security and compliance in secure environments.
Proven ability to manage complex, large scale database systems.
Hands on experience supporting database components of:
Atlassian Suite
Cameo/Teamwork Cloud MBSE
SolidWorks
GitLab
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with underlying database technologies for the above tools.
Experience working in classified or defense related environments.
Scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
Knowledge of cloud based database solutions.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
Self driven and capable of working independently.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Richardson, TX.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
