Pastor of Youth and Discipleship
Job Description Provide administrative leadership by overseeing all details pertaining to a successful execution of our youth ministry events:
Superintend the execution of our weekly youth ministry (grades 6-12) as well as other youth ministry events.
Strategically plan the teaching curriculum for the year and be the primary teacher for the ministry.
Take the lead in recruiting, training, and overseeing capable and qualified volunteers.
Address issues and concerns pertaining to parents, students, and teachers as they arise.
Provide a safe learning environment for students by consistently updating and enforcing youth ministry policies and procedures pertaining to volunteer background checks, student protection and safety, and emergency situations.
Develop and manage the youth ministry budget.
Responsibilities (continued)
Provide strategic leadership for the long-term health of youth ministry.
Meet weekly with Pastor Adam to review the youth ministry weekly meeting and events, as well as make decisions regarding volunteers, teaching, and processes within youth ministry.
Partner with Pastor Adam in determining the ministry’s long-term goals and strategies.
Develop and maintain a system of communication with parents, volunteers, and staff to ensure everyone is updated regarding recent and upcoming youth ministry events.
Consistently seek out opportunities to develop a greater aptitude for providing ministry leadership, to expand your knowledge of the cognitive and spiritual development of students, and to expand your knowledge of current and potential youth ministry processes and practices.
Spiritual Leadership
Provide spiritual leadership for the long-term health of the volunteers within youth ministry.
Consistently ensure that all youth ministry volunteers meet the qualifications pertaining to leadership skills and integrity.
Develop and maintain a system of care whereby all volunteers within the ministry sense belonging, value, and accountability.
Discipleship Culture
Provide guidance and hands-on shepherding to help cultivate a culture of discipleship within Westosha Lakes Church.
Develop, implement, and continually refine a clear discipleship pathway for the church that fosters a culture of multiplication
Identify and mentor emerging leaders and potential future elders within the congregation
Equip the members of the church to be more effective in making disciples
Evaluate discipleship outcomes and provide accountability for discipleship progress among members of the church
Assist in recruiting, training, and shepherding small group leaders
Other Expectations
Participate regularly in corporate worship
Consistently log work activity into Google calendar shared with the pastors
Preach and teach periodically, as assigned
Lead various parts of the Sunday morning service, as assigned
Be physically present in the office and available for staff and others during normal office hours.
Develop and lead classes, seminars, and workshops (e.g., membership, foundations, theology, spiritual disciplines, marriage/parenting) as needed
Pray regularly for the members of the church
Raise up leaders in the church by meeting regularly with at least one individual for discipleship
Make visits to widows, shut-ins, hospitals, as needed
Support the broader pastoral team in shepherding the congregation
Officiate weddings/funerals as needed
Lead a small group
Participate in staff and elder meetings
