General Job Summary The Senior Trade Compliance Officer will manage all aspects of the export process for Trade Compliance laws including but not limited to the Department of Commerce and Department of State, US Census Bureau, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, and Office of Foreign Assets Control. Responsibilities include providing guidance to internal resources to identify controlled data and hardware, licensable transactions, evaluating export license requests, gathering necessary data, preparing documentation for license applications for submission to the appropriate government agency, trade-related reporting, recordkeeping, and maintenance of existing licenses. This role also prepares, reviews and approves international shipments, runs denied party screenings, and provides analysis to business partners.
Essential Job Functions
Serve as an Empowered Official as a member of the Trade Compliance Department
Support and interact with Kratos’ Program Management, Engineering, Business Development, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Finance, IT, Traffic and Contracts Department
Verify proper export jurisdiction and classifications for products, technology, documentation, and software in accordance with applicable U.S. export control laws
Provide guidance and advice regarding import/export issues to peers and upper-level management, while assuring full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
Prepare export/import license applications
Conduct and facilitate due diligence reviews in connection with transactions that may pose a trade compliance risk to the Company
Coordinate and approve international shipments in accordance with U.S. trade laws
Complete Denied Party Screenings
Review, approve and coordinate international travel documents as they relate to U.S. trade laws
Maintain compliance due diligence reports and records
Monitor and study relevant regulatory developments (Department of State, Department of Commerce, Customs & Border Protection, Office of Foreign Assets Control)
Help business partners understand the risks and consequences of a given situation; effectively communicate the consequences and develop alternatives to manage identified risks
Manage record keeping and reporting requirements

Education and Experience Required:
BA/BS in related field or 10 years of industry experience in international trade, export compliance or related experience
Experience with U.S. trade laws (ITAR, EAR, U.S. Customs regulations, OFAC)
Practical day-to-day work experience applying ITAR and EAR regulations
Working knowledge of export/import shipping documents (e.g., Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin, EEI filings, Air Waybills)
Experience in the Defense Industry is a plus

Ability to stand and sit for long periods
Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)
