Overview At Ervin Cable Construction, LLC, as a Drafter Designer, you’ll plot, map, design, and draft in CADD using the requirements for telecommunications networks and permits. You will create accurate network maps, layouts, drawings, and detailed electronic construction prints to meet customer expectations.

What You’ll Do

Create new Outside Plant (OSP) network designs in various applications/software

Develop and issue work prints for OSP Telecom networks

Work with Engineering and Construction departments and coordinate with permitting agencies

Create documentation and reporting to support the work package, e.g., bill of materials, labor quantities, etc.

Ensure facility designs follow company standards and comply with local, state, and federal regulations (which may include Rural Utilities Service — RUS)

Provide documentation required for the cost-effective placement of communication facilities

Meet project deadlines and complete tasks under tight timelines

Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

To be 18 years of age or older

Authorization to work in the United States for this company

High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or at least three years of telecommunications OSP Design/Engineering experience

Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred

Knowledge of

Telecommunications industry standards

Regulations for OSP facilities

Aerial, buried and underground construction methods and engineering requirements

Government permit requirements

OSP Communications Design systems

Applications such as NDS, FROGS, AutoCAD, Fireworks, Bidmaster, Infinium and/or Varasset

Knowledge of fiber optic counts, fiber assignments and splicing schematics in a high-density fiber environment

Physical Abilities & Exposures

Routinely: Work alone in remote locations, use keyboard and mouse

Occasionally: Operate vehicle, climb stairs, stand, walk
