GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Wyoming Department of Transportation is seeking a Senior Plumber to independently install, maintain, and repair complex plumbing systems, including potable water, sanitary and storm sewers, sewage lift stations, roof drains, hydronic piping systems, air and flammable gas systems, fire sprinkler systems, and irrigation systems. This position is responsible for the safe treatment and testing of potable water systems that are used by the general public, and compliance with all international, state, and local codes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs complex duties in the repair, maintenance, and installation of plumbing systems and backflow prevention devices in state buildings.

Recommends energy-saving changes.

Installs, maintains, and repairs fire sprinkler systems and helps repair irrigation systems.

Works with engineers on new system design, troubleshooting, testing, and startup of new systems.

Works carefully to follow all current regulations for plumbing work to ensure that all installed systems pass inspections.

PREFERENCES/AGENCY REQUIREMENTS Preference given to those who have a Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) license and Level 1 Water License holders.

Must have Journeyman Plumbing License

KNOWLEDGE

Thorough knowledge of plumbing system maintenance and repairs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education:

licensed journeyman

Experience:

0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

None

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Must be able to kneel, crawl in confined spaces, and stand on ladders for extended periods.

Must be able to physically operate tools and equipment such as sewer machines, jackhammers, shovels, and torches.

Qualifying eligibility and criteria for the hiring bonus :

Temporary employees accepting a full-time permanent position.

Current employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been opened to the public.

One year of service to WYDOT must be completed; failure to complete this requirement will forfeit the hiring incentive; funds will be recouped from final pay.

Internal candidates would be required to remain in the position for a minimum of one (1) year from their promotion date.

Employees would only be eligible for one (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.

If the employee elects to downgrade through an active recruitment and/or appointment during the twelve (12) month period, they would be required to pay the bonus back.
