Job Description This is a field-based position and candidates should reside within a commutable distance of the posted city.
The Parkinson’s Disease (PD) Account Executive (AE) is responsible for maximizing business opportunities with approved on-market products (drug device combination) for the Parkinsons Franchise. The PD AE will develop and maintain strategic business relationships with accounts through interactions with Movement Disorder Specialists, Neurologists, Advanced Practice Providers, Health Care Professionals, nurses, executive level personnel, department managers, and other support staff. Relationships focus on educating about product benefits/risks and addressing current therapeutic gaps, consistent with approved labels, developing new business, expanding current business, optimizing resource utilization, and increasing sales to achieve the sales plan for the PD product portfolio. The PD AE will also build and maintain compliant working relationships with Parkinson’s advocacy, support groups, and other patient organizations.
Key Job Responsibilities
Delivers effective on-label technical and scientific presentations/sales calls utilizing approved data to highlight benefits and risks and create awareness of product solutions addressing therapeutic gaps, resulting in sales quota achievement.
Understands and addresses customer needs; builds and maintains relationships across accounts to create opportunities benefiting patients and HCPs. Partners with AbbVie in-field and in-house teams to identify, design, and/or adapt approaches and tactics.
Serve as lead US Commercial contact with targeted accounts in assigned geography; address customer and patient needs with expert knowledge of AbbVie’s care environment approach.
Create, implement, and communicate strategic and tactical plans for targeted accounts; monitor and report sales progress; provide routine communications to internal and external stakeholders.
Attend and participate in local neurology society meetings, conferences, patient programs, support groups, advocacy events, etc., some evenings or weekends. Represent AbbVie and products to build relationships and education on the product; channel key information to internal partners. All discussions in forums are within OEC and Legal guidance and on-label.
Develop business strategy and territory account plans based on accounts and geography; align resources to support tactic execution and adjust as needed.
Remain current on clinical, market, and payer developments, trends, and issues specific to Parkinson’s Disease.
Complete all AbbVie required training and adhere to all company policies and OEC/Legal procedures.
Meet health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements for entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory (may include background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization/vaccination).
Represent AbbVie as a partner of choice in Parkinson’s and Neuroscience with HCPs and patient organizations.
Driving a personal auto or company vehicle or equipment as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or relevant equivalent experience.
3+ years of health science field or sales experience, with at least 2 years in pharmaceutical sales. In lieu of degree: 8+ years of health science sales experience with minimum 4 years in pharmaceutical sales.
Demonstrated ability to network and partner effectively across functional areas.
Excellent organizational/project management and leadership skills.
Proven track record of managing multiple stakeholders in complex environments.
Essential HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
Credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses as applicable. AbbVie provides resources to answer questions.
Preferred Qualifications
Parkinson’s, Neuroscience, and/or Specialty pharma with 5+ years of account management experience and high performance.
Specialty pharmacy product/medical device and/or medication pump delivery sales experience (e.g., diabetic pump).
Pharma leadership experience or in-house development role in training, marketing, or related areas.
Pharmaceutical launch experience (complex/novel products) in sales, training, or marketing roles.
Experience educating and partnering with advocacy organizations and support groups.
Consistent top performer with a track record of success in challenging market spaces.
Strong business acumen and territorial ownership with ability to multitask, solve problems, and influence without authority.
Advanced sales skills; ability to communicate complex products and processes simply, address concerns, and gain new business.
Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to build credibility and trust with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience navigating matrix organizations within accounts and complex customers (IDNs, academic institutions, hospitals, large groups, etc.).
Demonstrate patient centricity and comfort with compliant direct patient interaction in various forums.
Key Stakeholders External: Hospitals, Health Systems, and Group Practices.
Internal: Sales and marketing teams, integrated Managed Care, Brand Teams.
