Overview

The Intervention Specialist supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth of students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Working collaboratively with classroom teachers, specialists, administrators, and families, the Intervention Specialist uses data-informed and evidence-based practices to support students with mild to moderate learning differences and those requiring targeted intervention. This role is essential to fostering an inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of the whole child. Key Responsibilities

Provide small-group and individualized academic interventions in literacy, math, and related areas. Support students with mild to moderate learning differences within inclusive classroom settings. Design, implement, and monitor targeted intervention plans aligned with student needs. Track and analyze student progress using ongoing assessment and data collection. Serve as the point person for coordinating communication related to students receiving intervention services. Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of communication with parents, teachers, and support staff. Partner with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction and inclusive practices. Coordinate student plans with parents and teachers to ensure consistent implementation of accommodations and modifications. Participate in student support meetings, problem-solving teams, and progress reviews. Collaborate with school counselors, behavioral support staff, and administrators to support the whole child. Consult with outside professionals, as appropriate and with family consent. Assessment & Documentation

Assist with screening, informal assessments, and progress monitoring. Use assessment data to inform instruction, intervention planning, and plan revisions. Maintain organized, accurate, and confidential student records. Professional Responsibilities

Stay current with best practices in intervention, special education law, neurodiversity, and inclusive education. Participate in professional development, coaching, and collaborative learning. Contribute to a school culture that values equity, collaboration, and inclusion. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field. Experience working in inclusive or independent school settings. Training in evidence-based literacy and math intervention programs. Experience supporting executive functioning and social-emotional development. Core Competencies
