Description of duties:

Reporting to SPIE’s Senior Director of Science, Technology and Industry Programs, SPIE Event Managers oversee the strategy development, planning and execution of events within SPIE’s event portfolio including such showcase events as Photonics West, Optics + Photonics, and Defense + Security. The successful candidate will collaborate with both volunteer leadership and SPIE Staff to coordinate the content, logistics and successful completion of events. Event managers enable SPIE to deliver high-quality meeting experiences to our attendees while achieving event performance metrics and realizing financial goals. The successful candidate will have strong communication, team-building and problem-solving skills. Travel up to 15% to event sites is expected. Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, relevant experience required, MA or MS degree preferred. A degree in a field closely aligned with optics and photonics is a plus. 7+ years professional experience in a meeting planner or program manager role or experience in a directly related industry is required. Demonstrated strong project management background required. Non-profit organization or event management experience preferred. Interest in science a plus. Culture

Competitive wages, annual discretionary bonus.

Pay range $100,361 to $145,555. Full time, hybrid schedule. Medical, dental & vision benefits provided (100% employer paid premium for the employee, 75% employer paid premium for dependents). Defined contribution retirement: SPIE provides an automatic 5% contribution PLUS SPIE offers UP to 5% matching contributions and 25% vesting each year, 100% vested after 4 years. Paid Time Off plan begins at 31 days per year. Health savings accounts are partially funded by SPIE. Flexible spending accounts for dependent care and dental/vision expenses available. Location
