Opportunity Due to their strong reputation, product quality, and market demand, a well-known, design-forward manufacturer of premium building products has an immediate need for an experienced A&D, Specification - Territory Manager based in the Dallas OR Houston area. Our client already has a developed customer account base and a book of active projects within the region, and they are seeking an individual to further expand their market penetration throughout the Texas region.
Based in Dallas OR Houston, the A&D Specification Sales Rep, Territory Manager will be responsible for driving projects with Architect & Designers, Engineers and the wider Specifier community, to service existing relationships, and strengthen and grow an ongoing pipeline of sales opportunities for their exclusive product range. This position will concentrate on driving presence and the volume of projects within the territory by building relationships with A&D firms/practices, and key fabricators to promote and influence product specification and selection.
Individuals currently working as Interior Designers, Showroom Sales professionals, or Kitchen and Bath Designers bring highly relevant experience for this role. Candidates with an Interior Design or Architecture background will also be considered, supported by a structured training and mentorship program designed to set new team members up for success.
This role works from a home office, with regular travel both locally and within the state of Texas for territory coverage (Houston, Dallas, Austin, primarily). Circa 30% overnight travel.
Main Responsibilities / Duties
Lead business development and key account management as the manufacturer representative across architects and designers, key fabricators, builder decor centers, and millwork partners
Partner with peers and leadership to shape and execute market strategies that expand share in priority segments
Strengthen existing accounts and win new business through consistent customer visits, training, and product knowledge sessions
Support the brand locally with samples, literature, and market-specific sales tools
Resolve customer issues quickly and proactively, escalating risks to management when needed
Maintain regular communication with the Regional Manager, including weekly call reports and account updates
Collaborate with the Technical Service Team to ensure installers receive accurate product guidance and support
Use the corporate CRM to track activity, manage requirements, and analyze account performance
Manage regional inventory of samples and merchandising materials to meet market needs
Support regional and national initiatives, ensuring markets have the information required for successful execution
Coordinate internally to identify and act on customer opportunities
Execute national trade marketing and brand initiatives to a high standard
Build and maintain strong product and industry knowledge through events, trade shows, and association involvement
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Prior experience generating commercial specifications or calling on/promoting to the A&D Specifier community, OR worked as an Commercial Interior Designer, Interior Architect, Kitchen & Bath designer, showroom sales rep, or similar.
Able to demonstrate achievement of selling/winning/holding specifications with specifiers and end users.
Excellent communication, strong interpersonal skills, strong listening, ability to problem solve, strong presentation, and organization.
Must hold a valid driver's license and be able to clear pre-employment screening.
