About the Opportunity ASC are looking to appoint a
Strategy and Planning Lead
who will play a key hands‑on role in developing and maintaining the Multi Class Sustainment (MCS) strategic ten year plan and supporting key business unit roadmaps. This role is actively involved in updating, coordinating and preparing strategic and planning information that supports decision making across the MCS business.
Based in South Australia and reporting to the Head of Strategic Projects, the Strategy and Planning Lead will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders to keep plans current, accurate and aligned with ASC’s broader goals.
This is a practical, delivery‑focused role where you will be directly involved in preparing strategic and planning materials, maintaining roadmaps, coordinating workshops and supporting the execution of strategy and planning activities across the business. It suits someone who is comfortable working in detail, enjoys structured planning processes and contributes actively to the ongoing delivery of strategy within the MCS business unit.
Responsibilities
Create, maintain and update strategy and planning materials and documents for the MCS business unit, including the ten‑year plan and roadmap hierarchy.
Coordinate and support strategy and planning workshops across departments and programs.
Prepare inputs that support alignment between departmental and program level plans and strategic objectives.
Develop routine analysis that highlights risks, issues and progress in relation to strategic and operational priorities.
Support monthly and quarterly strategy and planning activities across business unit, department and project levels.
About You
Tertiary qualification in business, engineering or a related discipline.
Project Management qualifications, with practical experience in strategic planning ideally gained within defence, engineering or industrial environments, typically developed over five to ten years.
Understanding of strategy and planning methods and practical analysis and reporting approaches.
Comfortable working in detail, updating and maintaining documents, data and program information.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Delivery focused with an organised approach, ideally suited to complex technical settings such as shipbuilding, defence or maintenance repair organisations (MRO).
Eligibility This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
