divh2Medical Assistant Position/h2pPosition Summary: The Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office/hospital. MA will support providers and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication. Responsible for pre-registering and scheduling moderately complex procedures and coordinating multiple resources for patient services. May also perform duties for prior authorization referrals (incoming/outgoing), good faith estimates, and/or payment collections./ppEssential Functions:/pulliRooming patients and performing data collections vitals/liliEMR input/liliConducts pre-visit planning by reviewing patient charts prior to appointment with recent test results and correspondence/liliAssisting physician with patient set-up and preparations/liliCompile and summarize information for care providers/liliTriaging incoming phone calls/liliPreparing and administering medications with physicians authorization/liliCompleting medical forms and obtaining referrals/authorizations/liliRetrieval of lab and x-ray reports/liliCalling in prescriptions/liliProviding patient education with regards to diagnosis, mgt, medication, mgt home treatment, and diets/liliOrdering medical and office supplies/liliCleaning and stocking exam rooms/liliCleaning instruments and disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards/liliOther duties as assigned/li/ulpRequired/Minimum Qualifications:/pulliEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent required./liliExperience: At least two (2) years of related customer facing experience preferably in healthcare./liliLicensure/Certification: Certification from nationally recognized agency required. Accepted agencies and certifications include: National Healthcareer Association Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA), American Medical Technologists Medical Assistant (RMA), National Center for Competency Testing National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) -American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS)./li/ulpKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:/pulliAbility to interact successfully with the public./liliAbility to perform effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities maintaining personal composure in high stress situations./liliAbility to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, patients families/visitors, and clinical staff./liliAbility to perform with a high degree of accuracy and with meticulous attention to detail./liliDemonstrate a strong ability to use initiative and judgment and to identify, analyze, and solve problems./li/ulpPreferred Qualifications:/pulliExperience demonstrating proficiency in scheduling OR preregistering patients./liliMay consider prior call center experience./li/ulpPhysical Requirements:/ppWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk frequently to use hands, fingers, and frequently to talk or hear.
