Job Title Banquets Director- Liberty Hill

Reports to Director of Food and Beverage

Supervises Banquet managers, banquet captain, banquet servers & bartenders & coffee break attendants. Position also shares supervisory responsibility of banquet beverage supervisor with Beverage Manager.

Objective The Banquet Director is responsible for delivering exceptional food and beverage service to members and guests, ensuring high levels of satisfaction. This role coordinates closely with other departments to ensure the seamless execution of banquets, private, and member functions. The director leads by example and actively engages both team and League members. Additionally, this role supervises, trains, and develops the banquet team, ensuring adherence to Union League service standards while maintaining a high level of service quality. This candidate will also be in a unique position to affect positive changes during construction of a new high-end main ballroom and pre-function spaces.

Responsibilities

Determining staffing needs of the department

Interview candidates for open positions and onboard individuals upon hiring

Write and conduct 90 day and annual reviews for banquet leadership with DoF & B

Write and conduct 90 day and annual reviews for all line-level staff with banquet leadership

Constant training and development of all positions within the department, most specifically the banquet leadership team

Coach, counsel, and document staff when required with collaboration of banquet leadership and human resources

Weekly scheduling for servers, beverage staff, housemen, and coffee break attendants

Constant upkeep of staff assignments, availability and information

Ensure changes are acknowledged and accommodated then reflected in staffing, set-up, and service needs

Continuously work to elevate our product and service standards to maintain our #1 City Club status

Ability to cover floor shifts, execute events and take lead on major VIP/holiday events

The ability to be visible in the operation, provide recognition, and handle complaints, concerns or special requests from members, clients, and group contacts

Communicate directly with group contacts, event managers, culinary leaders and banquet team to ensure that all details of the function are carried out, ensure quality and timeliness of all food and beverage items

The ability to work closely with property leadership to design an effective menu while ensuring excellent product and service quality

Attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments

Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory

Skills & Competencies

Proven leadership and team development abilities; capable of inspiring excellence across multiple service areas and event types

Exceptional organizational, logistical, and multitasking skills to manage events and operations simultaneously

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to foster collaboration among departments

Keen attention to detail and commitment to upholding the highest service and presentation standards

Working knowledge of banquet operations, event logistics, and property-wide coordination

Proficiency in scheduling, payroll management, and administrative systems

Thorough understanding of safety, sanitation, and alcohol service compliance

Requirements

5 years of banquet & events leadership experience

Experience being the operational lead for large life events such as weddings and mitzvas

Resort, private club, or luxury hospitality experience strongly preferred

Ability to communicate and work cross-functionally within the League as well as members, vendors, and clients

Ability to build partnerships and relationships with leaders of all League departments

Proficient in Microsoft Windows/PC. Ability to learn computer programs such as Outlook 365, Jonas, and ADP

Bending and lifting required as well as the ability to stand for extended periods of time

Must have open availability for all meal periods including nights, weekends and holidays/flexible workschedule

Liberty Hill has several mandatory workdays for banquet staff. 2026 dates listed below

Spring Ball - Saturday, April 11th - All Staff

Mother’s Day - Sunday, May 10th - All Staff

Independence Day Celebration - Wednesday, July 1st - All Staff

Thanksgiving - Thursday, November 26th - All Staff

Santa & Grinch Brunch - Sunday, December 20th - All Staff
