Salary Range/Other:
Management Salary Schedule (2025-2026) Range 38: $9,650 to $12,261 monthly or $9,901 to $12,512 monthly with earned Doctorate. New appointees will receive year-for-year credit for prior management experience to a maximum of Step C.

District provides health options for employee and dependents; employee may opt for higher option. Vision and dental insurance premiums for employee and dependents are District-paid. Income protection and life insurance premiums are District-paid. Estimated annual cost of benefits: $24,408.
Position Summary / Scope of Assignment DEFINITION
Under general administrative direction, provide analytical, administrative, strategic leadership, management, training, course design support, and oversight of online education, infrastructure, and related instructional technologies; ensure that Modesto Junior College meets policies, procedures, and laws regarding online education. Coordinate initiatives promoting affordability and equity of instructional materials, including Open Education Resources (OER), Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC), and Low Textbook Cost (LTC).
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This director oversees Online Education, directing Instructional Designers and supporting ZTC/OER initiatives in technology-related pedagogy training, while providing administrative and liaison support to the College.
SUPERVISION
Receives general administrative direction from the Dean of Instruction. Provides supervision to technical and administrative staff as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience:
Education : Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in educational technology, instructional design, education, instructional technology, business administration, or related field.
Experience : Three years of increasingly responsible instructional support experience with instructional and/or administrative technology, preferably in a community college setting.
Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of supporting equitable, inclusive, and anti-racist academic and workplace environments.
Legal mandates, policies and regulations pertaining to online learning processes and technology services.
Instructional technologies (learning management systems, video production/streaming, video/teleconferencing, mobile apps).
Accessibility of instructional content and technology for diverse learners.
Organization, supervision, employee motivation and training.
Ability to:
Develop and implement goals, policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Interpret and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations.
Prepare and present management reports clearly.
Follow oral and written directions with minimal supervision.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Prepares annual goals, participates in planning, and facilitates the achievement of objectives aligned with the College’s mission and strategic plan.
Stays current on education code and legislative changes affecting online education.
Designs and implements a strategic online education plan based on data analysis to support enrollment growth, student success, and reduced equity gaps.
Facilitates instructional design and development for online offerings.
Plans and evaluates staff performance; provides coaching and development.
Coordinates initiatives promoting affordability and equity of instructional materials (OER, ZTC, LTC).
Leads efforts to align online offerings with accreditation guidelines and state/federal requirements.
Develops and conducts ongoing training for faculty in instructional design, strategies, and pedagogy.
Participates in committees and special assignments; performs other related duties as assigned.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License desired.
Physical and Mental Standards
Mobility: sit for long periods; move about an office; occasional standing and reaching.
Dexterity: keyboard use and handling documents.
Lifting/Pushing/Pulling: up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Visual: close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Hearing/Talking: normal speech and telephone communication.
Emotional/Psychological: decision-making, concentration; frequent deadlines.
Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Working Conditions
Standard office environment on campus; not fully remote.
May require occasional evening and weekend hours.
