Responsibilities
Create, duplicate, and reengineer basic to complex electrical schematic and layout drawings and drawing packets of industrial control panels and associated equipment for automation and drive systems. Design systems from performance related specifications and/or concepts.
Participate with other engineers in project development phases:
Design, specify, and supervise fabrication and assembly of designed systems and subsystems.
Create project specifications for projects that summarize and detail customer requirements.
Interface with customers, project managers, systems engineers, fabrication technicians, and sales professionals for successful completion of the project.
Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, technical competence, and outstanding safety performance.
Essential Functions
Create electrical assemblies, schematics, layouts, bills of materials (BOM’s), conduit and cable schedules, and system documentation using AutoCAD Electrical. Create assembly and schematic drawings per company and customer specifications.
Use Autodesk Vault to maintain all engineering documents.
Provide recommendations for electrical specifications on components to be implemented in the assemblies.
Conduct design reviews with engineering team to obtain design improvements, quality improvements, cost savings, and/or assembly improvements.
Examine existing, including possibly damaged, components and equipment for accuracy, improvement, reproduction and/or replacement including but not limited to general precision measurements, operation or function of item, and other design notes/considerations.
Maintain working drawing sets with approved revisions and “as-built” changes.
Prepare purchase requisitions for project related materials.
Provide design support to production during the fabrication phase of parts and electrical systems.
Strong preference will be shown to candidates having additional experience with any of the following:
AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Vault
NEC 2017 or UL Electrical Standards
PLC, VFD, or MCC system design and specification
Educational Requirements
