Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an AMA approved school or training program in Nuclear Medicine Technology or appropriate on‑the‑job training to meet the qualifications to sit for the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Registry or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Nuclear Medicine (registry eligible). Training and Experience: Ability to perform all types of nuclear medicine diagnostic exams. Job Knowledge: Familiar with all phases of Nuclear Medicine Department operation and with techniques and department procedures necessary to deliver appropriate care while considering the physical and psychological needs of neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Able to demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span, able to assess the patient’s status, identify each patient’s age‑specific needs and to provide the needed care. Performs all types of nuclear medicine exams done in the Nuclear Medicine area. Assists in other areas of the Radiology Department/Hospital as needed. Physical Effort

Must be able to stand and walk for hours during job performance. Be able to lift up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to communicable diseases, ionizing radiation, blood and body fluids. Mental Effort

Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for 20–45 minutes at a time. Individual must be able to understand and relate to the concepts behind specific ideas and remember multiple tasks given to self and others over long periods of time. Must be able to communicate verbally, using advanced level of vocabulary. Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients and families of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, all radiology/nuclear medicine staff, referring physicians and residents, nursing scheduling, patient escort services and administration who may or may not be under physical and/or emotional stress. Frequent interaction with personnel in other departments and with vendors. The ability to maintain confidential information.
