Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, your Purchasing Agent expertise will be utilized to research and purchase products and supplies for our engineered to order boiler product fabrication and production. Earn respect and recognition for your contributions as we continue to improve manufacturing capability and capacity. Experience autonomy and open dialogue with senior managers and make an immediate impact. This is not a remote role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees and maintains inventory. Researches, analyzes, and forecasts current and future buying trends, markets, styles, and products with attention to specific business needs that will help increase performance. Develops and maintains relationships with wholesalers and suppliers. Assesses financial risks of purchases. Prepares Request for Quote (RFQ) packages and communicates with suppliers. Processes PO requisitions and places POs with qualified suppliers utilizing latest and active quotes in Infor XA. Updates business system (Infor XA) with price, lead time, supplier promise date, and supplier information. Leads supplier communication on changes due to Engineering Change Orders, drawing revisions, part revisions, MRP Need Date, Pushouts and Pull-ins, NCRs, Goods Receiving, etc. Works closely with Production team to manage alignment of PO Need Date with Manufacturing Demand Date. Communicates date changes between Thermon Precision and suppliers. Develops a production hot list and prioritizes supplier delivery. Manages supplier delivery performance using Infor XA reports and communicates with suppliers as needed. Level-loads suppliers to reduce capacity and supply risks. Monitors supplier capacity and quality issues that may impact order fulfilment. Solicits assistance from Manufacturing and Quality to ensure supplier qualification criteria are met prior to awarding purchase orders. Collaborates with Production, Quality, and suppliers for timely First Article deliveries. Works with Quality Team to resolve quality issues resulting from NCRs, Customer Issues, etc. Supports Physical Inventory Count and cycle count processes for timeliness and inventory accuracy. Identifies inventory discrepancies and drives root-cause analysis and corrective actions. Be a subject matter expert in Infor XA ERP Planning and Purchasing processes. Performs other duties as assigned, based on workload and business needs. Supports key procurement projects as needed. Note: The above are essential duties and are illustrative of job tasks. Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, or related field preferred. Minimum five (5) years of hands-on Purchasing experience required. Experience in large industrial manufacturing companies preferred. Extensive experience with manufacturing Bills of Materials, drawings, welding and paint specifications, and customer requirements is a plus. Procurement certifications CSCP or CPSM preferred. Experience with financial systems such as Microsoft Dynamics AX a plus. Skills and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to function well in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. This position regularly works in a typical warehouse environment, including being near moving mechanical parts and exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
