Organization Summary Our comprehensive approach to whole girl development equips girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers and grow up healthy, educated, and independent. Informed by girls and their families, we also advocate for legislation and policies to increase opportunities for all girls and address the systemic barriers that impede girls’ success.

Position Summary Implement and manage a comprehensive fund development program that builds sustainable funding from individual, corporate and foundation donors, with a particular focus on donors at leadership levels ($1,000 to $25,000+). Together with the CEO, the Director of Development will develop strategic and tactical plans for the overarching goals of the fund development program annually. As an individual contributor, this position is responsible for the identification, engagement, solicitation and stewardship of 50+ donors and prospective donors of $1,000 or more.

Specific Responsibilities

Implement a comprehensive fund development program, including major and annual gifts from all sources and using all appropriate methods:

Conducting direct solicitation, including support of the CEO and board members in their solicitation of donors

Implement direct mail and online solicitation of individual donors

Oversee marketing efforts in relation to fund development needs

Coordinate fundraising special events to engage and cultivate relationships with corporate and individual donors.

Build and monitor a name-by-name table of gifts, analyze and adjust on a monthly basis for the first six months of each calendar year and a weekly basis thereafter

Develop an engagement and solicitation calendar for all donors of $1,000 or more including solicitation by:

Special events

Face-to-face solicitation by staff, board or other volunteers

Conduct yearly review and assessment of annual giving program, making adjustments as necessary

Work closely with the CEO on high-level engagement and solicitation activities

In conjunction with the CEO, work with board members to implement individual fund development plans

Create a comprehensive stewardship program, ensuring that:

All donors giving less than $1,000 receive at least one stewardship piece in addition to thank you notes

All leadership donors receive additional stewardship tied to their giving interests including face-to-face interaction

All major gift donors receive annual fund stewardship in addition to any major gift steps

Accurate database records and up-to-date tracking systems

Manage a pool of 50+ prospects and donors.

Develop strategies

Make 5-7 face-to-face visits per month and document contact reports for each visit

Oversee grants via working with a freelance grant writer in an effort to seek, research, write, review proposals, and manage reporting requirements.

Oversee volunteer registration, trainings and opportunities with the support of Girls Inc. administrative staff.

Work closely with the Board of Directors to implement, track and fulfill annual board “Give/Get” plans.

Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about the Girls Inc. Mission with the community.

Perform other related duties as requested.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree.

5-7 years of supervision and management experience.

7-10 years of a proven track record in fund development and/or appropriate transferable responsibilities.

Superior communications skills emphasizing the ability to listen and hear others and the ability to write for a variety of audiences.

Computer proficient in Google environment, Microsoft Office products and Donor Development Software.

Ability to work flexibly in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial atmosphere.
