SUMMARY
Under close supervision, the Customer Service Representative accurately fulfills customer orders and manages incoming customer calls.
COMPENSATION
$19.89 - $24.88/Hour
JOB DUTIES
Respond to basic customer inquiries, provide quotes, and handle order entry. Place customer orders via telephone, fax, email, electronic methods, or walk‑in counter sales. Influence gross profit by negotiating sale price and purchase price within parameters. Adjust non‑contract customer pricing to meet competitive demands while maximizing profit. Build customer relationships to drive repeat business and process improvements. Order items to maintain appropriate inventory levels for customers. Place orders without approval up to $5,000 per line and $10,000 per purchase order. Source products in branch inventory, distribution center inventory, or supplier inventory. Determine the most cost‑effective shipping method for customer orders. Partner with Account Representatives to ensure customer satisfaction. Expedite backorders, pull inventory, and prepare orders for shipment to customers. Handle customer returns as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED and zero to three years of related experience or equivalent combination.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Reliability, organization, and attention to detail. Strong communication skills – written, verbal, and listening. Ability to multi‑task and manage time. Moderate computer skills, including email, business systems, and internet search for product information. Product knowledge preferred.
