Hotel Investment Services, Inc (HIS) is seeking a Resort Sales and Event Manager for Drummond Island Resort. Drummond Island resort, located on Drummond Island, Michigan, is a 2200-acre property with 40 hotel rooms, rental cabins, two on-site restaurants, The Rock golf course, Cedar shooting clays, and a paintball course. The Resort Sales and Event Manager will be responsible for generating revenue by securing meetings/events, weddings and social events, golf and recreation groups, and group room blocks for the resort. This position is responsible for documenting and communicating the specific needs and timelines for each group to all hotel teams and departments. This role will work directly with clients throughout the booking process, from the initial inquiry through the event taking place. The Sales and Event Manager must provide clear, concise, and timely communication with clients and all resort associates. Responsibilities
As the Resort Sales and Event Manager, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and within the community Solicit new business from key demand generators by deployed segment Respond to all customer inquiries in an effective, timely manner Follow up with clients throughout the booking cycle, build trust with clients, and process all deposits and deadlines in a timely manner. Create customer correspondence as required – sales agreements, proposals, contracts, group resumes, rooming lists, and banquet event orders Maintain account files with all activities tracked for each account Communicate with the resort team for the execution of the group’s needs Meet or exceed weekly/monthly activity goals to include, but not limited to, site tours, outside sales calls, prospecting phone calls, emails, and client proactive maintenance calls Develop and implement sales strategies to target organizations and increase market share Works with the culinary team to ensure alignment with customer needs and contracted services Works directly with F&B Leaders to ensure meeting space, recreational areas, etc. are maintained to the highest standard and are prepared correctly for each group May assist in implementing and/or participating in special promotions relating to direct sales segments, i.e. sales blitzes etc. Greet meeting/event contacts for group activities and meeting/events as needed under the direction of the General Manager Attend and assist service staff in all major group meals, including wedding ceremonies and receptions. Acts as the primary onsite contact for each group during the event Skills and Abilities Recommended
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Business development, including but not limited to internal and external prospecting Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with excellent follow-through to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask Strong work ethic and driven by results Customer/Client focus with the ability to negotiate and close sales Time management and problem-solving abilities Excellent verbal communication, phone, and presentation skills Previous hotel sales or event management experience preferred Preferred Education and Experience
At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field; preferably in business, marketing, or hospitality Must have a valid driver’s license Expected Hours
In season, May – October, must be on the island or able to commute to the island as required by the General Manager. Off-season, remote, but must reside in the state of Michigan. The ability to travel during the offseason to grow business at the resort through proactive sales efforts is required. Benefits
