The Retail Sales Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing a team of Retail Sales Representatives (RSRs) within a designated geographic territory or territories. This role combines leadership, sales strategy, and customer relationship management to ensure the team meets and exceeds sales targets while delivering best-in-class service and support to our retail partners, including key accounts like Lowe’s and Home Depot. The Retail Sales Supervisor will play a critical role in coaching, mentoring, and developing the RSR team while driving performance through effective employee training and accountability. Additionally, the RSS will grow strategic relationships with regional KDMs to ensure alignment with company goals, and manage relationships to improve product visibility, sales conversion, and market share. This role is ideal for a results-driven leader with a passion for mentoring teams, building relationships, and driving sales growth in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Coaching: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Retail Sales Representatives to achieve and exceed annual sales quotas. Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture, ensuring RSRs are motivated and focused on key objectives.
Hiring & Staff Management: Oversee the hiring, onboarding and training of new RSRs to ensure alignment with company values and goals. Manage performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, staffing decisions to maintain a strong, effective team.
Training Facilitation: Lead product and sales training initiatives for the RSR team to enhance product knowledge, selling techniques, and overall brand advocacy. Provide ongoing training and resources needed to increase overall performance, product knowledge, and sales effectiveness.
Field Team Evaluation: Conduct regular field visits to evaluate RSR role execution and performance across the territory, ensuring adherence to proper brand standards and sales goals, providing regular feedback to each team member for improvement.
Sales Strategy & Performance Monitoring: Analyze sales performance data to identify opportunities for growth and improvements within the team and the territory. Develop and execute territory-specific sales strategies, ensuring that the RSR team effectively targets key customers and delivers results. Monitor individual and team performance, including tracking quota attainment, sales conversions, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Sales Analytics & Reporting: Collaborate with the corporate sales team to ensure the team's efforts align with overall corporate strategies and goals. Use sales data and market insights to drive continuous improvements in the team's performance and sales results. Provide regular reporting on sales performance, team activities, inventory movement, and product merchandising effectiveness.
KDM Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners, including district merchandising and management. Serve as the primary point of contact for district management to ensure effective communication and alignment on sales goals, merchandising, and promotional activities.
Professional Communication: Drives effective communication and collaboration within the organization. Fosters good working relationships among team members and other functional contacts.
Additional Responsibilities: Performs all other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in retail sales management with a proven track record of successfully leading teams in the field.
Previous experience in a retail environment or working in merchandising/marketing roles is required
Skills:
Self-motivated, competitive, and resilient with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Excellent leadership, coaching, and team-building skills, with a focus on driving performance and achieving sales targets.
Strong knowledge of retail merchandising, product displays, and sales strategies, particularly in home improvement or consumer goods sectors.
Detail-oriented analytical skills with experience in sales reporting, data analysis, and performance metrics.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external customers.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Power BI
Physical Demand Requirements Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers to touch, pick or pinch objects; reach with hands and arms; push or pull; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use foot or leg controls; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. For all jobs no one should lift over 50lbs on their own. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
