W.E. O’Neil is seeking an experienced Project Director - Education to provide leadership on complex, high-value construction projects. In this role, you’ll own project success from pursuit through closeout—leading teams, managing risk, strengthening client relationships, and delivering exceptional outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead one or more large, complex construction projects from pursuit and preconstruction through completion
  • Own overall project performance—profitability, schedule, quality, safety, and client satisfaction
  • Partner with estimating, operations, and field leadership to set GMPs, schedules, and execution strategiesServe as the senior client‑facing leader, building trusted relationships with Owners, Architects, and partners
  • Oversee and mentor Project Managers and Senior Project Managers, setting clear expectations and developing talent
  • Manage contract strategy, change negotiations, risk mitigation, and claims avoidance
  • Drive strong safety culture in collaboration with Superintendents and Safety leadership
  • Support business development efforts including RFQs/RFPs, interviews, and industry networking

What You’ll Bring

  • 10–15+ years of progressive construction leadership experience on large‑scale projects, specifically in the K12 and Higher Education spaces
  • Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Design‑Build management experience. DBIA preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of construction delivery methods, contracts, scheduling, and cost control
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship‑building skills
  • Advanced proficiency with project management and scheduling tools (CMiC, P6, MS Project, Bluebeam, BIM tools, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience
