Role description
In your role as Junior Designer for Civil Structures, you'll be involved in the entire design process, from initial sketches to contract development and implementation designs. You'll be part of the Design team of the Structures advisory group. As a designer, you'll work on structures in the broadest sense of the word: tunnels and underpasses, bridges (movable and fixed), and viaducts. Structure Advisory Group: The Design team within the Structures Advisory Group, which you'll be joining, handles projects of all sizes, from preparation to execution. These can be domestic or international projects, and we work for leading clients such as the Rijkswaterstaat (RWS), ProRail, provincial and municipal authorities, and contractors. Good example projects are Venlo, Vierpaardjes Underpass, N247 Broek in Waterland Underpass, N516 Thorbeckeweg and Fraser River Tunnel.
Role responsibilities
You'll start under the guidance of an experienced designer and play a key role in the project team, developing draft designs, feasibility studies and alternative assessments, preliminary designs, final designs, and construction designs under the supervision of a design manager. We create the designs using Civil3D or Revit, based on current standards and guidelines, and we encourage you to develop your skills in these areas. We also encourage you to develop your skills within your role, including preparing design reports, contract documents (requirements specifications), BIM coordination, scheduling, and phasing. You'll work on projects under the supervision of a design manager, collaborating with structural engineers, geotechnical specialists, and/or architects. Your location is Amersfoort.
Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for a skilled civil engineering (artwork) designer with excellent communication skills, who is eager to learn, innovative, flexible, and a team player. We have room for both someone with (several) years of work experience and someone who has recently graduated. Your profile:
- Completed MBO/HBO education in civil engineering;
- Experience with 2D and in particular with 3D design programs (Revit and/or Civil3D) and an affinity with programming and tooling is an advantage.
- Able to work well in a team;
- Ambition to develop within the field;
- Excellent command of the Dutch language and a good command of the English language, both spoken and written.
