The Senior Director of Communications and Mission Advancement is a senior leadership role responsible for integrating and elevating Collington's communications, marketing, outreach, community partnerships, and philanthropy functions. This leader will advance Collington's mission and strategic priorities by shaping a cohesive communications strategy, strengthening internal and external engagement, and building meaningful relationships across the region

A strategic thinker, exceptional storyteller, and relationship-builder, the Senior Director will serve as a key facilitator and conduit between the Board, executive leadership, and internal subject matter experts. The role will help identify and position the most effective representatives for Collington across media opportunities, community partnerships, outreach events, and philanthropic engagement. By ensuring the right voices are elevated at the right moments, the Senior Director will strengthen the organization's authenticity, credibility, and alignment with its mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Internal Communications

Develop and implement a comprehensive internal communications strategy that strengthens transparency, engagement, and alignment among residents, team members, and other internal stakeholders Serve as a strategic messaging advisor to the CEO and senior leadership on organizational initiatives, change management, and major announcements Using current and new platforms, generate exceptional resident and team member communications, leadership updates, and all other messaging Collaborate with HR, Resident Services, and Operations to ensure messaging supports organizational culture and enhances understanding of strategic priorities Establish feedback mechanisms to evaluate communication effectiveness and identify continuous improvement opportunities External Communications

Lead a cohesive external communications strategy to elevate Collington's visibility across the senior living field and broader community Working closely with the marketing team, oversee public-facing content including the website, media relations, social media, videos, print materials, and digital storytelling Build and maintain media relationships, respond to inquiries, and serve as a spokesperson when appropriate Support the board of directors, CEO and leadership team with speeches, presentations, talking points, and thought leadership materials Ensure brand consistency across departments and platforms, safeguarding organizational reputation Monitor trends and public sentiment to inform proactive and responsive communication strategies Greater Community Outreach, Partnerships & Engagement

Working closely with the leadership team and board of directors lead community outreach initiatives that strengthen Collington's presence, expand mission impact, and foster meaningful engagement Identify the Collington leader to best represent the organization at community forums, association meetings, educational partnerships, and greater community programs Identify and develop new outreach opportunities that align with organizational priorities and resident interests Track community engagement outcomes, evaluating impact and ensuring alignment with strategic goals Community Partnerships

Working closely with the board of directors and leadership team, develop and implement a strategic framework for identifying, cultivating, and sustaining impactful community partnerships Build and strengthen relationships with nonprofits (especially in the aging services/senior living sector), universities, healthcare institutions, civic organizations, faith-based groups, and government agencies Identify the best Collington representative to serve as primary liaison to key partners, ensuring alignment, effective communication, and shared outcomes Evaluate partnership opportunities for strategic fit, mission alignment, and long-term value Oversee partnership-related programming, communications, and events to ensure consistent branding and messaging Track and report partnership activities, demonstrating community impact and informing future strategy Leadership of Communications, Marketing, and Philanthropy

Provide strategic oversight and guidance for the Communications, Marketing, and Philanthropy teams, fostering collaboration and innovation across the departments Ensure integration of messaging, branding, outreach, and fundraising strategies across all functions Guide annual planning, budgeting, performance measurement, and goal setting the three teams Mentor and develop team members, cultivating a high-performing culture centered on creativity, service, and accountability Drive cross-departmental alignment to support organizational reputation, resident and team member engagement, and strategic initiatives Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree required, master's degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, public affairs, or related field preferred. Experience in mission-driven, nonprofit, senior living, healthcare, or community-based settings strongly preferred 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, public relations, philanthropy, or community engagement leadership Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary teams and overseeing integrated mission advancement functions Exceptional writing, storytelling, public speaking, and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated ability to use current technologies in all aspects of the role Proven ability to build partnerships and engage diverse stakeholders with authenticity and professionalism Strong strategic planning, project management, and organizational leadership capabilities Physical Demands & Work Environment

Must be able to stand and walk short and long distances for extended periods of time Must be able to sit in front of a computer for several hours a day Must be able to lift and/or carry objects less than 20 pounds This is a full-time position at Collington Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to attend events and meetings Some travel may be required to represent Collington at external events and conferences

Salary: $140,000 - $160,000 based on experience
