Deputy Circuit Court Clerk I
Starting Salary: $37,978
Position Overview: Join our team as a Deputy Circuit Court Clerk I, providing essential clerical and administrative support to the Circuit Court. This role involves working under general supervision to assist in civil or criminal court proceedings.
Responsibilities
General Duties:
Greet and assist the public and internal inquiries
Process payments for various fees and fines, and set up payment plans
Receive, scan, and file public documents
Assist in preparing court dockets and attend court sessions
Handle paperwork, data entry, and clerical tasks during court processes
Civil Court Duties:
Maintain public records and ensure they are retrievable
Back scan old files into the computer system
Record payments for court fines, licenses, and permits
Balance the cash drawer daily and reconcile errors
Administer oaths and complete court-related forms
Facilitate communication between the public and the Judge
Assist with inquiries from attorneys, judicial officers, and the public
Prepare and process jury exemption requests
Issue various licenses and permits, such as marriage and concealed handgun permits
Manage land recording instruments and mail distribution
Criminal Court Duties:
Prepare for court with necessary paperwork for relevant departments
Notify Probation and Parole of new cases
Research and update the docket, ensuring post-court tasks are completed
Attend criminal court, administer oaths, and assist the Judge
Perform post-court updates and draft legal documents
Maintain case files and update the Circuit Court System
Calculate and enter court costs, and issue legal orders as needed
Provide customer service by answering calls and assisting in-person inquiries
Manage data entry of criminal financials and interact with relevant legal entities
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of three (3) years of related experience or equivalent education/experience
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of departmental practices, procedures, and computer applications
Proficient in clerical, mathematical, organizational, and communication tasks
Ability to handle public interactions and communicate effectively
Skilled in managing multiple tasks and stressful situations
Competent in independent judgment and problem-solving
Ability to compile, organize, and maintain records and documents
Effective team oversight and professional-level work dealing with data and technology
