Job Overview The Director of Business Development identifies new business opportunities, plans and manages capture of opportunities, maintains fruitful relationships with existing customers, assists in developing company strategic plans, and markets company services to achieve revenue targets developed by the COO. This will be accomplished by actively engaging existing and seeking new customers that drive the company’s financial growth. The Director will manage the proposal team, coordinate with job cost to respond to competitive and sole source procurements, manage content, and meet intermediate and final proposal deadlines.
Responsibilities
Conduct the research and analysis of business opportunities.
Locate, explore, and evaluate potential federal business opportunities.
Analyze competitors to enhance the company’s success rate.
Interface with groups and company leads to determine applicable federal market areas and scopes of services.
Lead the development and execution of win strategies.
Prepare and lead Go/No‑Go reviews.
Create and implement capture plans as required.
Attend RFP debriefing interviews and communicate win/loss feedback with the team.
Pursue sole source awards.
Initiate and develop strategic partnerships with large and small businesses.
Engage industry contacts for direct award opportunities.
Create connections between subject matter experts and federal customers Gana‑A'Yoo is eligible to serve.
Develop and foster positive client relationships.
Manage Gana‑A'Yoo proposal efforts.
Coordinate with proposal teams to ensure proper hand‑off and follow‑through.
Collaborate with consultant technical writers to produce timely and complete proposals.
Utilize data provided by the BD Department in pursuit of specific strategies.
Research expiring 8(a) and HUBZone contract databases for relevant leads.
Exploit an expansive list of expiring 8(a) and HUBZone contracts relevant for capture by the firm.
Position the Gana‑A'Yoo family of 8(a) firms for direct award opportunities.
Work independently and collaborate with PMs, GMs, and VPs regarding relationships that may lead to direct contract awards.
Perform incidental tasks related to the position and various duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum ten (10) years of progressive experience in business development.
Bachelor’s Degree from a four‑year university.
Successful track record developing business in existing and new government markets (IT, Construction, O&M, Janitorial, Manufacturing, Logistics).
Demonstrated federal market knowledge, including clients, prime and subcontractors, and geography.
Demonstrated success targeting and winning service contracts, IDIQs, MATCOs, Sole Source, etc.
Demonstrated success in building a pipeline of opportunities.
Capable of developing and delivering effective sales presentations and marketing material.
Demonstrated success in all business development areas within a fast‑paced, technically focused environment.
Small Business Administration 8(a) competitive and sole source experience required, preferably with an Alaska Native Regional Corporation, Alaska Native Village Corporation or tribal entity.
Must have contacts within the government contracting industry and other large businesses working in relevant sectors with the federal government.
Ability to travel when necessary.

Work Environment This position is primarily office‑based. The environment is professional, collaborative, and conducive to focused work. Computers, phones, and other necessary tools will be provided. Minimal travel may be required.
Physical Demands The work is predominantly sedentary, performed at a desk or computer workstation. Extensive use of computer screens and keyboards is required. Minimal lifting or carrying of light office supplies up to 50 pounds may be required. Employees will move around the office to attend meetings and collaborate with team members.
