Position Summary

The communications manager supports and promotes the PAm and BHC mission by working with our small, remote team of eight to ensure excellent communication both internally and externally with our staff, board of directors, grantors and funders, cause marketers, beekeepers, almond growers, habitat participants and other stakeholders. Under the direction of the development director, the communications manager will maintain outward-facing platforms including websites, newsletters, and social media. They will provide data summaries and content for the annual report, newsletters, press releases, print materials, and presentations. Content creation may involve conducting interviews, and documentation of field-research, habitat participants, or events. Supporting the Advancing Markets for Producers grant through Blue Diamond Growers is a special focus for this position. This position works both independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced, multitasking environment. Professionalism, organization, comprehension and synthesis of information, and clear communication are paramount to this position. Primary Responsibilities

In collaboration with technical experts, create content and edit the technical copy quarterly for the Cover Crop Chronicle eNewsletter, and the Project Apis m. (PAm) eNewsletter, including conducting interviews and writing articles. Create and edit content for industry publications, and support staff-produced content through review. Support communications and outreach for Seeds for Bees (SFB) and the Advancing Markets for Producers (AMP) Grant including staffing events, arranging advertising, producing printed and web materials and other promotions of the programs. Including participant surveys, applications, guides and specification materials. Work closely with habitat managers to produce SFB and AMP grant reports and other reporting materials as required. Summarize and publicize initiatives and outcomes of PAm’s and Bee Health Collectives (BHC) research and forage programs. Create, collect, manage, and distribute social media content and collaborate with other staff as needed. Monitor and respond to social comments and questions. Provide reports on social media and website engagement. Utilize social media ads as part of planned campaigns. Support the development director with coordination of industry conference attendance, tabling and presentations. Manage team projects like the annual report, seasonal conference presentations, major reports to sponsors, development appeals, and other development events that may arise. Travel for conferences, capturing video, interviews, and other media for use in campaigns and posts. Assist with sponsor and donor relationships, including reporting and providing content when needed. Other administrative tasks and communications assigned by supervisor. Manage website and media requests Manage media file storage and trademark status; providing materials for staff and outside requests. Desired Qualifications

Communications Experience- a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience including content creation, social media and website management. Communication Skills – demonstrated engaging and effective verbal and written communication skills to rally support from both internal and external constituents. Awareness and enthusiasm for beekeeping and agricultural systems. Coordination Experience – a demonstrated ability to effectively engage and organize co-workers to accomplish program goals. Analytical Skills – Demonstrated ability to use appropriate tools to report progress to internal and external stakeholders and interpret analysis to improve the program. Problem Solving – Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking to seek out, identify, and communicate solutions to problems as they arise. Technology-Proficiency with Microsoft suite, data visualization, project management and design software Adaptability – self-motivated ability to work independently and collaboratively with co-workers. Preferred Experience

Degree in related field with 3 years of experience Experience working with honey bees in the field Working knowledge of market forces developing in global food systems and supply chains A demonstrated understanding of nonprofit communications issues and challenges Demonstrated ability to think strategically about sustainability and growth of PAm & BHC programs * You need not have all these qualifications to apply, please highlight your experience in these areas in your resume and cover letter This is a full-time, non-exempt position. PAm operates remotely; some travel is necessary. Annual Salary range $50,000 – $55,000 Benefits
