We are currently recruiting an Information Resources Specialist II – Communications and Community Engagement Coordinator. This full-time position pays $24.10 an hour and is in New Castle, DE. The incumbent is responsible for providing communication of GVI Support & Outreach goals through a coordinated public relations and public education campaign and supporting implementation of outreach activities to meet community needs. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Develops, implements, and maintains a coordinated public relations and public education campaign to communicate GVI Support & Outreach goals to diverse audiences. Drafts, edits, and distributes press releases, fact sheets, newsletters, social media content, and other public-facing materials to increase awareness of GVI programs, services, and events. Plans, coordinates, and assists with execution of GVI Support & Outreach events, programs, and services in collaboration with internal staff, community partners, and stakeholders. Organizes and conducts press conferences, media briefings, and public announcements, including preparing talking points and briefing materials for speakers and leadership. Designs and delivers training seminars and presentations for community groups, service providers, and the general public regarding GVI goals, services, and referral processes. Recognizes, mediates, and helps resolve complex and diverse issues that are frequently controversial and sensitive in nature and critical to program operations, using sound judgment and de-escalation strategies. Builds and maintains effective working relationships with community-based organizations, faith-based groups, local government, law enforcement partners, and residents to support violence reduction and community safety efforts. Monitors media coverage, public feedback, and community concerns related to GVI Support & Outreach and recommends communication strategies to address emerging issues. Maintains records of outreach activities, events, trainings, and media interactions and assists with data collection and reporting as needed. Represents the GVI Support & Outreach program at community meetings, forums, and public events as assigned. Additional duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently; must be self-motivated. Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills. Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders, including in high-stress or emotionally charged situations. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Education And Experience

High School diploma required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, social sciences, human services, or a related field preferred. Prior experience in public information, community outreach, public relations, or a similar role, preferably in a human services, public safety, or community-based setting. Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, however evening and weekend hours will be required to attend community events, meetings, and trainings as needed.
