The Assistant Director of Decision Support will oversee and guide the functional analysis, coordination, and implementation of data analytics projects and platforms at AITS. This includes facilitating strategic planning efforts, championing initiatives, guiding project teams, providing constructive feedback, sharing expertise, and managing support processes. The person serving in this role has a strong understanding of the capabilities of analytics platforms and solutions, can learn and grow into new technologies and techniques, and advocates for value‑add to our clients. The candidate is apt at presenting information to clients that illustrates how data analytics solutions can be used to address specific business problems and improve desired outcomes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain existing relationships and establish new relationships with university stakeholders to understand needs to deliver the data and reporting solutions, training, and support that enable university leaders to get and use data for making informed decisions.
Lead the Decision Support function focusing on analysis, development, delivery, and support of multiple data analytics platforms and solutions to serve the needs of university staff and faculty.
Facilitate the prioritization of resources, projects, and requirements among competing business needs.
Coordinate education, tool training, and support for users seeking data and reports from reporting and data management tools. Champion the Data Literacy training program to provide education on appropriate and ethical use of data.
Engage with System and Campus leaders in the development and implementation of data governance policies and procedures, including a strong focus on data security, privacy, and appropriate use of data.
Contribute to the architecture roadmap and provide guidance and impact analysis during research, testing, and implementation phases of existing and new data analytics platforms.
Lead and/or actively participate in university committees and governance groups to assist with planning, being data informed and utilizing data analytics solutions.
Lead the deployment of new analytics technologies focusing on building awareness, training, consulting, mitigating impacts on customers, and driving adoption.
Oversee communications and marketing to build awareness of the data analytics capabilities across the University System. Illustrate how data analytics solutions can be used to address specific business problems.
Develop team member skills, support, mentor, and coach them in understanding client requirements and coordinating the development of data analytics solutions.
Participate in the strategic planning and execution process for analytics related initiatives and goals in the unit.
Analyze requirements, develop proposals, and obtain approval for projects that serve the University System.
Travel to all universities to meet with campus and departmental offices, and others to educate them and assist with data and business intelligence needs.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Information Management, or related field.
Demonstrated leadership in a business or IT environment where decisions or input is directly tied to results.
PREFERRED
Five (5) or more years of working experience in a data analytics or data management organization.
Five (5) or more years of working experience and knowledge of Data Warehousing initiatives, Business Intelligence Competency Centers, and functional data areas in a higher education or not for profit government environment.
Five (5) or more years of experience developing and leading highly effective teams that are built on shared norms, accountability, effective collaboration, and strong relationships.
Three (3) or more years of working experience with modern data analytics tools and technologies including Cloud services, data virtualization, AI and data science.
Three (3) or more years of hands‑on experience in project coordination, project management or organizational management role.
Three (3) or more years of hands‑on experience in at least two of the following areas: customer advocate, direct customer support, requirements gathering & analysis, training and education, technical documentation, business process analysis, and/or project coordination or leadership.
Two (2) or more years of strategic planning experience.
Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining procedures.
Experience in a higher education environment.
Demonstrated experience building and maintaining successful relationships with clients and team members.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written to guide team members and communicate complex concepts to clients and stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience balancing workload and time constraints while managing and delegating work completed by others.
Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and strategize for better organizational results using data‑informed insights.
Demonstrated understanding of concepts, including data analytics development processes.
Demonstrated attention to detail.
Understanding of Banner data and/or the University Data Warehouse.

The budgeted salary range for the position is $120,000.00 - 130,000.00. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
