Overview

The Tippie College of Business seeks candidates for an Assistant Director in their Undergraduate Program Office (UPO). This position works with prospective Tippie students, assists with Pre-Admission Requirement, teaches Discover Business at Tippie sections, co-leads Connect2Biz program management, assists in admission appeals, and serves as a member of the admissions team. The Undergraduate Program Office supports student learning through engagement, communication, business skills development, appreciation for diversity, and teamwork. The Assistant Director for Pre-Tippie Programs will support the UPO’s culture of optimism, collaboration, proactive problem solving, and will work collaboratively with multiple constituents within the Tippie College of Business and the University. Job Duties And Tasks Provide holistic advising to prospective and current undergraduate students regarding academics, registration, admission requirements, professional development, involvement opportunities, study abroad, graduation, and policies and procedures. Assist in planning and implementing domestic and international recruitment activities, including Hawkeye Visit Days, Admitted Student Days, Top Scholars Day, Transfer Days, Preview Iowa, Business Visit Day, Next Step Iowa, special recruiting presentations, Admission Information Sessions, and daily visits with prospective students and parents. Some recruiting events require occasional time outside 8:00am–5:00pm. Co-lead Pre-Admission Requirement form students complete as part of their admission requirements. Supervise peer mentors for Connect2Biz LLC Discover Business at Tippie course on admissions requirements, academic programs, and tour presentations. Oversee updating and management of admission, website, and academic planning publications for Standard Admission. Build workshops related to academic planning for prospective students in collaboration with advising vertical in Tippie. Assist in facilitating campus updates to AAC each academic year and creating monthly meetings with pre-business liaisons. Teach sections of Discover Business at Tippie. Provide support to the Associate Director budget for PAR and Admissions related materials (Connect2Biz). Co-supervision of LLC Peer Mentors for Connect2Biz program. Co-supervision of the Pomerantz Center Student Assistants (PCSAs). General supervision is received from the Associate Director, Pre-Tippie Programs. Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Qualifications

Typically 1 or more years in a student services role supporting undergraduate success such as academic advising, academic support and retention, residence life, admission counseling, career advising, student life or similar. Demonstrated ability to interact positively with people from varied backgrounds. Working knowledge of and experience in program management and/or event planning and execution. Expert knowledge of and ability to communicate effectively with individuals and large groups both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in MS Office computer applications. Demonstrated constructive and collaborative relationship building skills with a variety of individuals and groups, including peers, leadership, and external constituents. Valid US driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety Standards. Desirable Qualifications

Reasonable experience in higher education academic advising with responsibility for a caseload of students in an ongoing advising capacity. Reasonable experience in student organization supervision. Reasonable experience with planning, implementing, and assessing admissions programs and their impact. Master’s degree in business, student affairs, or a related field. Knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures related to undergraduate students. Functional fluency in more than one language. Application Details
