The Louisiana Oil Marketers & Convenience Store Association (LOMCSA) is seeking a strategic, results-driven, and highly visible leader to serve as its next Executive Director. This is a pivotal opportunity to lead a statewide, member-driven association through a period of renewed momentum, membership growth, and increased statewide engagement.
The Executive Director serves as the chief staff executive and is responsible for the overall management, performance, and external presence of the association, working under the general direction of the Board of Directors. This is a staff-led, board-governed leadership role with broad authority over operations, staff, programs, and finances.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director executes the strategic direction established by the Board while maintaining day-to-day authority over staff, programs, and resources. The role requires independent decision-making, strong organizational leadership, and a visible statewide presence for the petroleum marketing and convenience store industry in Louisiana.
The Executive Director also serves as the primary public-facing leader and spokesperson for LOMCSA, advancing the interests of members through advocacy, external relations, and stakeholder engagement. This role plays a key part in strengthening the association’s relevance, influence, and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the chief staff executive, with full responsibility for the management and operations of LOMCSA under the direction of the Board of Directors
Execute the strategic priorities established by the Board, with a strong focus on membership growth, engagement, and organizational momentum
Lead and manage all association operations, programs, services, and business affairs
Hire, supervise, evaluate, and manage staff; establish roles, responsibilities, and compensation within the Board-approved budget
Oversee the association’s financial operations, including budgeting, revenue management, expense control, and reporting
Manage and safeguard LOMCSA’s assets, records, and internal systems to ensure efficiency, transparency, and accountability
Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Board of Directors; prepare materials, support meetings, and ensure timely communication
Record and distribute meeting minutes and maintain official association records available for member inspection
Serve as the leading advocate and public voice for LOMCSA, advancing the interests of members at the state level and within the broader industry
Advance the association’s visibility, influence, and credibility through effective external relations and stakeholder engagement
Communicate clearly and persuasively with members, Board leadership, policymakers, industry partners, and external audiences
Build consensus and influence among diverse stakeholders to advance the association’s mission and priorities
Lead change initiatives that strengthen the association’s relevance, performance, and long-term sustainability
Identify and address organizational challenges through sound judgment, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Board of Directors
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in nonprofit, association, or comparable organizational settings
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking
Experience planning, executing, and managing organizational strategies and budgets
Business acumen, including strong financial management
Proven ability to lead staff and manage operations effectively
Experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors
Willingness to travel statewide to foster in-person connections and member engagement
Undergraduate degree in business or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
Association or nonprofit executive leadership experience
Experience building and developing teams to achieve operational excellence and growth
Experience leading advocacy and government relations for member-driven organizations in a related industry
Experience serving and advancing member interests at the state level
