The Girl Leadership Program Director oversees Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania’s (GSEP) leadership programming for girls in grades 6-12. This includes the Girl Scouts Highest Awards, Calling All Girl Bosses (CAGB), scholarships, girl recognitions and personal awards, and girl leadership roles at GSEP’s signature fundraising event, Take the Lead. This role also oversees the Bronze Award for girls in grades 4-5. The Director partners closely with council colleagues to coordinate additional opportunities for older girls, including governance roles and media/spokesperson experiences.
The primary goal of this position is keeping middle and high school girls engaged in Girl Scouting by delivering meaningful, relevant, and empowering programs that demonstrate the value and impact of Girl Scouts in all of the communities GSEP serves.
Reporting to the Chief Mission Delivery Officer, the Girl Leadership Program Director leads a small team, including the Calling All Girl Bosses Program Manager and the Manager of Girl Leadership and Highest Awards, and works closely with volunteers who support both CAGB and the Highest Awards. This position is responsible for setting clear goals and expectations, establishing timelines, and fostering a collaborative, positive team culture across staff and volunteers.
Essential Qualifications for this Position:
Strong communication and presentation skills including the ability to articulate the mission and goals of GSEP to the membership and community
Strong interpersonal and motivational skills to inspire staff, volunteers and girls
Strong customer service skills and the ability to take ownership and responsibility for all performance related goals
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively
Strong management and supervisory skills
Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to make effective presentations
Excellent writing skills and experience preparing written materials for use by the public
Experience planning and coordinating activities for large numbers of diverse participants
Willing to work nights and weekends as necessary
Attention to detail; ability to anticipate next steps to provide full customer satisfaction
Ability to work cross-functionally to achieve council goals
Exercises good judgment and demonstrates initiative in solving problems
Ability to build, maintain and value good relationships with team, members, volunteers and community
Cultural Sensitivity
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Passion for girl leadership and the Girl Scout mission
Knowledge of local communities required
Experience: 5-10 years of related experience, including management experience
Strong computer user skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and applications such as Salesforce
Passion for GS Mission and serve as a council ambassador
Commitment to GSEP Operational Core Values
Valid driver’s license, car, and proof of current insurance
Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds, this position may require heavy lifting and physical activity in the form of packing and unpacking equipment.
** Hours of Work: office and meeting participation as required during regular office hours (M-F; hybrid schedule), evening and weekend hours expected
