The
Legal Writing and Content Manager
will lead Modern Family Law's content strategy and execution across the website, blog, and thought leadership channels (excluding email). This is a hands-on role: you will plan the editorial calendar, interview attorneys and subject-matter experts, and produce a high volume of content, including practice area pages, city/location pages, blogs, guides, FAQs, and legal thought leadership.
You will partner with the SEO Manager to ensure content is optimized for search (SEO), answer engines (AEO), and emerging AI/LLM behaviors so Modern Family Law appears where people go for answers. You will collaborate with the Growth Marketing Manager on content distribution and with a future Email & HubSpot Manager who will adapt content for lifecycle programs. You’ll also work with the Director of Marketing, our SEO and paid media partners, and attorneys across multiple states to create content that drives qualified leads, builds trust, and elevates visibility in key markets.
Responsibilities
Own and maintain a rolling editorial calendar aligned to priority practice areas (e.g., divorce, custody, support, protection orders), key geographies/locations, and core client journeys.
Develop content themes and ongoing series (e.g., "Divorce 101," "Custody Basics," "What to Expect at Your First Consultation").
Collaborate with Growth Marketing to align content with campaigns, webinars, and new market launches.
Work with the Director of Marketing to ensure content aligns with brand messaging, campaign priorities, and firm-wide initiatives.
Content Creation (On-Site & Long-Form)
Write and edit high-quality content across practice areas and location landing pages, educational blogs, guides, resource articles, client-facing pages and FAQs, attorney bios and profile stories, and thought leadership pieces.
Transform attorney interviews and complex legal insights into clear, human, accurate, and accessible content.
Maintain a consistent brand voice: empathetic, direct, grounded, and trustworthy—avoiding unnecessary legal jargon.
PR, Thought Leadership & Partnerships
Coordinate with leadership, attorneys, and external partners to secure expert commentary, podcast appearances, and local/regional media mentions.
Support bylined articles and thought leadership opportunities in partnership with Content and PR resources.
Develop referral and co-marketing partnerships with therapists, financial planners, mediators, and family service providers.
Translate attorney perspectives and legal concepts into plain-language content for a general audience.
Awards
Own the calendar, research, submission, and tracking of attorney, staff, and firm award nominations (e.g., Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers, local "Best Of" lists), ensuring high-quality, on-brand applications and follow-up.
