South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate to apply. This position offers benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service. Functions as the Chief Curator for Collections, Exhibits, and Programs, providing oversight and supervision of the museum's Artifact Collection, Archival Collection, Research Library, and internal Curatorial information. The Chief Curator is responsible for interpretation of the collection for all museum exhibits, including overseeing conception, design and interpretation, implementation, fabrication, and related programming. This position provides oversight over all museum programs as well as Education Programs and Outreach. The Chief Curator supervises the Curator of Exhibits and Collection, the Education Curator, and the Archivist and Curator of History. The Chief Curator is over all social media, working with the Museum Media and Promotion Company under the guidance of the Executive Director. The Chief Curator is supervised by the museum's Executive Director. This is a senior management position. The Chief Curator works independently with the advice and supervision of the Executive Director. Responsibilities

Supervises staff to include preparing performance planning and evaluation documents and related personnel paperwork. Coaches, counsels and trains employees. Establishes and monitors work processes. Implements management policies and initiatives and promotes teamwork. Exhibits and Interpretation: Develops the museum's Exhibits and Interpretive Program and oversees scheduling under the supervision of the Executive Director. Oversees planning, research, implementation, fabrication and installation. Develops a vision for the exhibition program that emphasizes high educational values while appealing to visitors. Ensures all research is conducted in a scholarly and academic manner to insure the highest standard of accuracy in portraying SC military history. Oversees program development that complements and enhances the museum's exhibits. Develops traveling exhibits for SC museums, libraries, or public or private schools to enhance the academic reputation of the museum. Programming: Oversees the museum's programming, development, scheduling, and implementation of educational programs for public, private, and home school students by the Education Curator. Develops and schedules regular lecture programs and special weekend programs, coordinating with the Curators of History and Education. Oversees Outreach Travel Programs. Ensures programming aligns with the museum's mission and collection under the supervision of the Executive Director. Collections: Oversees all museum collections. Supervises the Registrar in developing and maintaining a comprehensive Collections Plan and policy ensuring adherence to AAM and AASLH standards. Oversees interpretation of the museum's collections to form the foundation for exhibits and exhibit programs. Scholarly publications: Oversees research and writing to maintain scholarly standards and the museum's reputation. Oversees editing and review of pending publications under the supervision of the Executive Director. Education/Experience:

A master's degree in museum administration, history, public administration or a related field plus five years of experience (experience must include curatorial or collections management, exhibit development, and supervisory experience). Education level may be substituted by additional years of experience. Strong writing and proofreading skills are essential. Qualifications

Familiarity with Microsoft Office. Supervisory experience. Broad knowledge and experience in the museum field. Additional Requirements

Position may require overnight travel. Position may require evenings and weekends. Position requires on-call shifts and call back. Position requires routine driving duties. Position requires frequent stooping and/or bending. Position requires frequent lifting of up to 40 lbs. Position may require reporting to work during emergency situations. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Work is primarily in an office environment; travel and field work may be required in areas with known, predictable hazards. Note:
