As a Loan Specialist, this position supports the branch manager in maintaining a profitable and well-managed office by ensuring efficient administration and compliance in loan processing. This role includes accurately processing loan applications, assembling and verifying loan documents, and handling all paperwork to maintain regulatory compliance. By diligently following organizational and regulatory guidelines, the Loan Specialist helps mitigate risk and avoid potential losses.
Responsibilities also include contacting customers regarding payment arrangements, facilitating loan extensions and modifications, and handling pay schedules as needed. In the manager\'s absence, this role oversees office operations to maintain continuity and productivity.
Job duties
Execute loan processing tasks accurately by processing applications, assembling and verifying loan documents, and maintaining regulatory compliance.
Contact customers regarding payment arrangements and assist with refinancing or bringing accounts current.
Close loans by ensuring all loan requirements are explained and understood.
Make collection calls on overdue accounts and locate past due customers using company tools.
Review pending applications and communicate with prospective customers to ensure accurate and timely processing.
Support account growth by engaging former and prospective customers with loan products.
Sell ancillary products where applicable (taxes, referrals, car club).
Maintain forms and loan documents in accordance with company guidelines, and federal and state law.
Prepare copies of financial and legal documents as requested.
Enter payments into loan management software and keep customer information up to date.
Maintain collection notes on account screens and accommodate payment extensions as needed.
Qualifications
1 year of customer service experience in any field
High School/GED preferred
Proficiency with operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux) and common software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace); experience with software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and collaborative approach
Excellent communication, active listening, and persuasive sales techniques to build customer relationships and drive growth
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines with attention to detail
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and ability to analyze data and perform calculations
