Job Description Classification Title: OPS - Journal Copy Editor

The Center for Arts in Medicine in the College of the Arts seeks a copy editor to join us in editing submissions for our digital journal, Perspectives on Arts in Health. Perspectives on Arts in Health is an open-access, peer-reviewed publication dedicated to advancing practice and research at the intersection of arts and health.

Responsibilities

Corrects grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors

Ensures that all content adheres to APA style guide and journal guidelines

Reviews references and information to ensure they are cited appropriately in APA style, as applicable

Conducts a final proofread of formatted content before publication

Collaborate with the layout designer to create journal style guides and submission templates

Other tasks as assigned by the editor (Center Director)

Salary Expected Salary:

$40/hour

Required Qualifications

B.A. in English, communications, journalism, or related field

Able to work up to 10 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications

1-2 years of experience in proofreading, APA-style, and copy-editing skills

Knowledge of APA style

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Proven attention to detail and initiative to meet deadlines without prompting

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Knowledge of scholarly fields related to arts in health

Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances pluralism, curiosity, viewpoint diversity, open discourse, and the well-being of all
