Disney Digital Entertainment is seeking an experienced Associate Art Director to join an ambitious new project focused on a groundbreaking game that will herald the next generation of Disney experiences. This is a full‑time role. The Associate Art Director will report to the Director, Art – Franchise Creative and must submit a digital portfolio for review. Passwords or protected archives are not accepted. What You Will Do
Review all art and visual design submissions, including characters, world designs, and animations, ensuring all assets meet brand and quality standards. Generate clear, concise feedback and guidance in reference guides, written notes, or paint‑overs to help developers understand and approve IP. Maintain deep knowledge of Star Wars lore and stay informed about relevant universe additions. Collaborate with the Director of Art, Franchise Creative team, and Lucasfilm Franchise & Story teams to align overall vision and processes. Provide guidance and reference materials to educate development teams and keep work consistent with the Star Wars brand. Collaborate with development teams to define and uphold visual style, ensuring alignment with each experience’s goals and production schedule. Ensure alignment between development requirements and stakeholder expectations while delivering on product objectives and strategic priorities. Required Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 7 years of gaming, film, or TV experience with at least 2 years in a Lead Artist or Art Director role. Minimum 5 years of experience working on a Star Wars IP in games, TV, or film. Broad and deep understanding of the Star Wars brand, including lore, design, and aesthetics. Expert in Photoshop and Maya (or equivalent 3D software). Extensive game development experience building and supporting AAA games on console and mobile. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to provide clear, concise feedback and present ideas. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple challenges while consistently meeting commitments and deadlines. Self‑starter, reliable, and passionate about work and committed to discipline and challenges. Exceptional attention to detail with a clear understanding of the big picture and focus on quality, authenticity, and intended audience. Ability to build consensus among stakeholders, balancing production and brand needs to find solutions. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and motivational skills with the ability to maximize individual and department performance. Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to present to diverse audiences from different professional backgrounds. Ability to travel, maintain valid U.S. Passport, and meet partners around the globe. Education
B.A. in Art and/or Design or equivalent work experience. Salary
The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $115,500 to $154,800 per year. Base pay takes into account internal equity and may vary based on candidate skills, experience, and geographic region. A bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be part of the compensation package. Benefits
