About This Position

The Office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is seeking candidates for a Commissions Specialist position in the Commissions Section of the Public Records Division. The Commissions Section is responsible for a variety of tasks involving the various appointments and commissions issued by the different branches of the Commonwealth’s government. The section maintains accurate records through the management of several databases, assists the general public with accessing these records, and provides guidance to obtain a specific commission such as Notary Public, Justice of the Peace, or a One Day Marriage Solemnizer. Other tasks include Apostille certification, administering oaths of office, registering in‑state members of the clergy to perform marriages, and assisting with public records requests when necessary. Representative Tasks

Assist with Apostille certification services and administer the oath of office for appointed officials. Maintain and update various electronic databases in an accurate and efficient manner. Assist in the day-to-day operations of the office, including answering phones, responding to general inquiries through email, and assisting walk-in customers. About Us
