Overview This IT Business Solutions Analyst serves as a key liaison between fund office departments and IT in supporting Taft-Hartley multi-employer benefit plans. The role ensures the accuracy and efficiency of eligibility data and systems for health, pension, annuity, and related benefits. Responsibilities include analyzing workflows, gathering and documenting requirements, developing user stories and QA deliverables, participating in system reviews and testing, and supporting user training and communication. A strong understanding of eligibility rules and trust fund operations is essential. Regular overtime is required and considered an essential function of this position.

Position Functions and Responsibilities

Analyze complex datasets using SQL and visualization tools to uncover trends, identify discrepancies, and deliver actionable insights through reports and dashboards

Conduct market and industry research, assist senior team members with data compilation, and draft proposals that align client needs with strategic growth opportunities

Communicate with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to gather requirements, provide updates, and support project execution across all phases

Facilitate daily project activities, manage documentation and deliverables, and use project management tools to track tasks, upload assets, and generate status reports

Participate in meetings and agile ceremonies, take organized notes, and support special initiatives by preparing training materials and communication plans

Design and execute test plans, perform various testing types, and collaborate with developers and analysts to validate outputs and resolve defects

Review technical documentation, maintain detailed QA records, and ensure compliance with departmental standards through continuous improvement efforts

Support automated testing by writing scripts, monitoring post-deployment performance, and contributing to release validation and software quality enhancements

Interpret complex eligibility rules, configure benefit systems, and maintain rule engines to ensure accurate determinations and regulatory compliance

Analyze trust fund workflows, recommend automation opportunities, and evaluate platforms for digital transformation in benefits administration

Collaborate with legal and compliance teams, troubleshoot system issues, and manage upgrades to ensure systems reflect trust fund structures and ERISA/HIPAA requirements

Translate business needs into functional specifications, serve as a liaison between IT and business units, and present findings to leadership and governance committees

Provide excellent customer service, support change management efforts, and create reports for internal stakeholders, auditors, and regulatory agencies

Assist senior team members with research, project execution, and data compilation

Serve as the liaison between IT and business units, translating technical concepts into business-friendly language

Support change management efforts by preparing documentation, training materials, and communication plans

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Must possess a proactive and service-oriented approach to solving project related problems

Experience with formal software development life cycle and business analysis methodologies

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Able to take strategic direction from management

3–5 years of experience as a Benefits Analyst, preferably in benefits administration, healthcare, or union trust fund settings

1+ year of SQL experience

Experience in all phases of the systems development life cycle

Self-motivated and driven with ability to work independently within a collaborative work environment

Participates, and interacts professionally during meetings, company events, and seminars

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Familiarity with eligibility systems, benefits platforms, or ERP systems

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a unionized environment

Supervisory Responsibility • This position has no supervisory responsibilities (may necessitate to take lead on projects)

Work Environment/ Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will perform duties in an office setting on a full-time basis

This position will require overtime on a regular basis and is an essential job function

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and listen.

Travel

Minimal to no travel. Occasional travel to business-related events, offices and/or seminars may be required
