Account Manager
The Account Manager (AM) will provide professional, courteous service to our Commercial Lines clients, producers, and company personnel. With a positive attitude, the AM will provide a high level of support in obtaining, maintaining, expanding, and servicing our commercial accounts. Working alongside the Producers, the AM shall be responsible for overseeing management of assigned accounts, including liaison with appropriate decision makers, carrier interface/marketing, collaboration with HUB colleagues, and negotiation of coverage terms and conditions, as well as issues related to policy processing and data maintenance in the Epic agency management system. This role includes routine changes (e.g., adding a new vehicle to the policy) and other transactional or clerical work within the AM domain. This role requires professionalism, drive, determination, and self-motivation to manage the needs of the producer and the clients.
Job Responsibilities
Manages a book of insurance business with appropriate independent discretion, autonomy, and decision-making. Provides professional, courteous service to clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues to maintain or exceed retention targets. Supports Sales staff in obtaining, maintaining, and expanding business. May be responsible for account rounding and development of new business in accordance with standard practices, policies, and procedures. Acts as liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve escalated, complex service issues. Negotiates with underwriters and carriers. Troubleshoots claims and billing issues. Responsible for overall retention of accounts in the assigned book of business. Develops new business from existing accounts and assigned leads; contributes to departmental production goals; identifies and follows up on cross-selling opportunities when appropriate. Produces binders, certificates, endorsements, and related items with verified accuracy. Maintains controls on renewals and binders to ensure timely preparation and processing. Prepares summaries of insurance, schedules, and proposals for account review. Renews and markets as needed; coordinates renewal activities with the producer. Assists Producers with the premium collection process and addresses accounting issues. Refers current and prospective clients to other departments for solicitation of those lines of business. Assists clients with claims when necessary. Adheres to all Agency systems, procedures, and state regulations. Assists the Producer with implementing the client’s strategic plan, including value-added services such as Pre-Renewal Strategic Planning, Risk ID Assessments, Contract Reviews, Claims Reviews (in coordination with Claims Management), Market Analysis, Stewardship Reports, Deductible Analysis, and more. Supports the producer in understanding clients’ insurance objectives and analyzes insurance plans for suitability; stays informed about industry changes and external factors that may impact clients; makes recommendations accordingly (independently of manager approval when appropriate). Helps manage, organize, and conduct client meetings; documents conversations with clients and carrier representatives; updates HUB systems and ensures data accuracy. Supports and helps develop less experienced CSA staff; attends industry-related continuing education and training.
Qualifications
Five (5) years of experience in commercial lines with an insurance company or agency High school diploma required; some college preferred; college degree desired Property and Casualty Insurance License Good telephone technique and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Ability to understand policy forms and coverage descriptions Strong mathematical skills Proficiency with computer systems, including agency management systems Ability to work in a positive team environment Strong typing skills and ability to compose clear letters Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail Hybrid work schedule; must be able to work onsite at the designated office location a minimum of three days per week Willingness to attend educational classes
