We are seeking an entry-level estimator who is eager to build a long-term career in construction. The role will support all phases of commercial construction cost estimating and assist project teams with planning and tracking efforts as experience grows.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist in preparing quantity take-offs, estimates, and purchasing needs for various phases of construction Help ensure estimating activities meet internal timelines and bid deadlines Review drawings and specifications to understand project scope with guidance from senior staff Support cost evaluations and updates throughout the preconstruction process Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings as needed Help develop and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors Assist with collecting bid pricing and organizing information for comparison Support preparation of internal and external estimating reports Contribute to risk identification as skills develop EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree, coursework, or interest in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred Internship, co-op experience, or prior exposure to construction industry is a plus Ability and willingness to learn estimating principles, construction plans, and cost structures Familiarity with general construction processes preferred SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications (or willingness to learn quickly) Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks Experience with estimating tools such as Sage, Bluebeam, or Procore is a plus but not required WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing this role, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, use hands to operate a computer, and reach with arms and hands. This position may require occasional lifting of up to 25–50 pounds and occasional travel for site visits.
