This position is responsible for receiving, evaluating, and dissemnating calls for police and emergency services. This is a full-time position and includes a full range of benefits including health, vision, dental, employer-paid life insurance, long-term disability, an employer-paid retirement pension through Missouri LAGERS, paid time off, sick leave, and employee assistance. Annual salary with built-in overtime starts at $56,575. Major duties include:
Answers administrative and emergency administrative calls from general public, gathers incident information and dispatches appropriate emergency safety personnel such as police, fire department or ambulance.
Prioritizes calls based on urgency.
Maintains telephone contact with callers during dangerous situations.
Tracks status of police officers regarding availability and location.
Provides information to police regarding outstanding warrants/wanted persons, suspect/subject data. Department of revenue driver and vehicle information from computer databases during traffic stops and complaint investigations.
Informs or confirms relevant information with officers.
Relays information to other law enforcement agencies via computer and radio.
Dispatches personnel from towing companies, public works personnel and other agencies.
Maintains knowledge of emergency communication devices including Telecommunications Device for the Deaf, procedures, ordinances and statutes, regional geography, and sources of emergency response resources and information.
Updates computer-aided dispatch information.
Takes and relays messages to officers. Connects officers to outside telephone lines. Answers informational calls from the public. Locates addresses and numbers for police. Maintains files for wanted person, stolen articles/vehicles, missing persons.
Monitors security and building control devices.
Monitors individuals in holding cells, booking room, and sallyport for conduct, safety, medical or other needs.
Requirements:
Knowledge of communications equipment and technology. Knowledge of Police Department, Highway Patrol, and other emergency service providers. Skilled in entering data rapidly and accurately. Possession of or ability to readily obtain MULES/NCIC certification.
