GENERAL SUMMARY

  

The Director of Consumer Lending is a key leadership role responsible for managing NIHFCUs consumer lending operations. Reporting to the Vice President of Lending, this individual will oversee the full lending lifecyclefrom application through servicingwith a focus on loan processing efficiency, credit quality, regulatory compliance, and member satisfaction. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong process management, team development, and a deep understanding of consumer lending practices.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Consumer Lending Department, ensuring seamless loan origination, decisioning, processing, funding, and servicing.
  • Design and implement workflows that maximize productivity, loan quality, and member experience.
  • Improve automation and efficiency in the consumer loan origination process, including maximizing the capabilities of the Loan Origination System and increasing auto-decisioning rates.
  • Monitor lead conversion rates and cross-sell performance of loans and ancillary products.
  • Set and track team and individual performance goals using data dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex loan scenarios, encouraging solution-oriented thinking.
  • Serve as a project lead on initiatives related to new consumer loan products, services, and system enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and internal policies; maintain up-to-date guidelines, policies, and procedures.  
  • Coach and develop staff through mentoring, delegation, performance management, and training to foster a knowledgeable, service-driven team.
  • Manage personnel functions, including performance reviews, improvement plans, coaching, and cross-training. 
  • Promote a culture of exceptional service by resolving escalated loan issues and driving continuous process improvement.
  • Maintain, recommend, and implement policies and procedures that meet regulatory and business requirements.
  • Respond to audit and regulatory exam findings by implementing corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Oversee student lending programs, rates and vendor relationship with CU Student Choice.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in consumer lending within a financial institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct management experience in consumer lending operations and underwriting.
  • Deep understanding of lending regulations, compliance requirements, and risk management best practices.
  • Advanced technical skills and experience with the administration of consumer lending Loan Origination Systems.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting, data analysis, and visual presentation of metrics.

REQUIRED COMPLIANCE COURSES

Ensure that work results and processes comply with relevant laws and with established NIHFCU policies, procedures, and practices, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).Attend all required training or complete and pass all online required training courses as applicable.

Salary Ranges: $111,353.04-$139,191.30 ; Exempt position.
