Position summary Anthology is seeking a

Director of Business Development

to lead commercial execution, customer acquisition, and strategic partnerships across human nutrition and animal nutrition.

This role is ideal for a commercial leader with deep experience in taking

novel protein ingredients ingredients

to market, selling into CPGs, ingredient manufacturers, feed companies and pet nutrition brands.

You will drive B2B customer development, manage our early commercial pipeline, structure joint development agreements, and help shape the commercial strategy across human nutrition and animal health markets.

Key responsibilities Commercial strategy & market development

Develop tailored market entry strategies for functional proteins in:

Human nutrition: specialized nutrition, functional foods & beverage, nutraceuticals, and infant formula.

Animal nutrition: feed additives, pet functional ingredients.

Define segment-specific value propositions, pricing and competitive positioning.

Customer engagement & partnership building

Lead outreach to CPGs, ingredient houses, feed companies, pet brands, and infant formula companies.

Build and manage a pipeline of pilot, co-development, and supply-partnership opportunities.

Have knowledge in formulation trials, performance testing and onboarding.

Structuring strategic partnerships

Negotiate JDAs, supply agreements, licensing and channel partnerships across human and animal markets.

Work with legal, regulatory and manufacturing teams to ensure commercial viability.

Product & regulatory readiness alignment

Support GRAS and international regulatory submissions as part of customer onboarding.

Ensure that commercial timelines align with production capacity, regulatory pathways, and scale-up milestones

Market intelligence & portfolio strategy

Track trends in functional proteins, precision fermentation, infant and pet nutrition, metabolic health and weight management.

Provide insights that shape prioritization of Anthology’s protein pipeline.

Identify whitespace opportunities.

Ideal candidate profile Experience

5 years+ in business development, commercial strategy, ingredient sales, or partnerships in:

Human nutrition (CPG, functional foods, infant formula) - required

Animal nutrition (pet & livestock) - strong plus

Demonstrate success selling or commercializing functional ingredients.

Strong industry network.

Experience negotiating JDAs and long-term supply agreements.

Skills & Attributes

Comfortable translating scientific data into commercial claims and value propositions.

Strong financial and market analysis capability (pricing models, unit economics).

Entrepreneurial mindset for a fast-moving startup.
