Our Ranking & AI (RAI) Research team is dedicated to groundbreaking research initiatives, focusing on high-impact projects that have the potential to redefine our monetization strategies. As a part of this innovative team, you will contribute to transformative approaches to recommender systems, inspired by advances in large language models (LLMs). We are shifting the paradigm by modeling recommendations through generative sequence modeling, enabling unprecedented levels of personalization and relevance.

As an AI Research Scientist on this team, you will have the opportunity to make significant contributions that will impact Meta's future and lead us into the era of artificial general intelligence (AGI). Your work will directly shape our monetization strategies and contribute to the development of the next generation of recommender systems.

Responsibilities:

  1. Extract meaningful signals from both first-party and third-party data sources.
  2. Advance representation learning to improve model efficacy.
  3. Develop scalable solutions capable of processing vast amounts of data efficiently.
  4. Drive continuous innovation in algorithms to enhance performance.
  5. Effectively transition research breakthroughs into production while optimizing cost efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  2. PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a relevant technical field.
  3. 3+ years of industry research experience in LLM/NLP, computer vision, or related AI/ML model training.
  4. Experience in a leadership role on a team, managing complex technical projects from start to finish.
  5. Publications in peer-reviewed conferences such as ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML, KDD, CVPR, ICCV, or ACL.
  6. Proficient in Python and experienced with frameworks like PyTorch.
  7. Must be eligible for work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hiring and maintain authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. A strong track record of impactful research in ranking, retrieval, or recommendation systems, as evidenced by publications, open-source contributions, or real-world implementations.
  2. First-authored publications in peer-reviewed conferences.
  3. Experience with model training techniques including pre-training, post-training, and fine-tuning.
  4. Knowledge in causal learning, sequence learning, classification, neural networks, and graph learning.
  5. Proficiency in solving complex problems while evaluating alternative solutions and trade-offs.
  6. A collaborative spirit to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.

Public Compensation:

$184,000/year to $257,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
