divh2Echocardiographer Position/h2pPerforms transthoracic echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms using specialized equipment, and transesophageal echocardiograms under the supervision of a cardiologist./ph3Responsibilities/h3ullipCollects relevant information regarding:/p ullipPatient identification/p/lilipProcedure appropriateness for indicated signs and symptoms/p/lilipPregnancy status/p/lilipPatient preparation/p/lilipContraindications/p/lilipSafety screenings/p/lilipPatient assessment/p/li/ul/lilipAnalyzes information to safely and accurately provide care according to established policies, protocols, and guidelines for patient safety./p/lilipProvides patient education by explaining procedures and giving instructions at a level the patient can understand./p/lilipAddresses patients questions and concerns./p/lilipVerifies patient informed consent (procedure, contrast, and radiopharmaceutical) when indicated./p/lilipRefers questions about outcomes, diagnosis, treatment, or prognosis to the patients physician./p/lilipProvides appropriate information to individuals involved in the patients care./p/lilipPerforms exams accurately by following policies and procedures./p/lilipEvaluates the patient study in a timely, accurate, and comprehensive manner to determine if the intended outcome was achieved./p/lilipDocuments all required components of patient care./p/lilipAccurately performs quality control procedures to maintain regulatory standards and accrediting requirements./p/lilipAdheres to equipment safety standards and identifies and appropriately reports variances and concerns./p/li/ulh3Qualifications/h3pstrongRequired:/strong/pullipRegistered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or ARDMS Board Eligible./p/lilipBLS certification required or must complete BLS certification within the first two weeks of employment./p/li/ulpstrongPreferred:/strong/pullipCompletion of an accredited echocardiography program with a minimum of twelve months echocardiography experience./p/lilipA graduate of an ultrasound program with a minimum of twelve months echocardiography experience./p/lilipCredentialed in one of the following areas: adult, pediatric, or fetal through ARDMS or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)./p/li/ulh3Infection Control/h3pInitial and ongoing training in dealing with infection control.
