Camp Chewonki is looking for a self-motivated, energetic Summer Camp Photographer to document the magic of camp life-from waterfront adventures and woodland explorations to friendships, laughter, and personal growth.

  • Reports to: Program Head
  • Exempt/Non-exempt: Exempt
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Capture daily life at Camp Chewonki through dynamic, high-quality photography (4-6 hours per day), including occasional off-site trips.
  • Create a rich, well-organized photo library showcasing the full camp experience.
  • Edit and upload curated photo sets for internal use, parent updates, and marketing purposes.
  • Collaborate with the Program Head and Director of Marketing & Communication to support camp storytelling and social media (Facebook & Instagram).
  • Help spread camp joy-both behind the camera and through full participation in camp life.
  • Support other camp activities and rotating staff responsibilities when photography duties are complete.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork, i.e. incident reports, camper reports, trip reports.
  • Share meals, live on campus, and fully engage in the Chewonki community.
  • Practice professional presentation and communication with participants and their families, co-workers, and the public.
  • Instill joy and enthusiasm into the daily life of camp.
  • Residential Responsibilities: This is a residential position. On-site housing is provided as part of the role and is available only while you are actively employed. Housing ends when employment concludes.
Qualifications:
  • Must pass Criminal Background Check.
  • 2+ years of experience with outdoor/adventure photography required.
  • Experienced with Google Suite (Drive, Photos, Docs, Sheets).
  • Experienced with photo editing software (Photoshop, Lightbox or similar).
  • Technical photography skills, including editing and publishing.
  • Interpersonal and collaborative approach to work with a co-photographer.
  • Ability to be self-directed and manage your own work schedule.
  • Risk Management minded.
  • Attend required onboarding and training sessions.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lb at a time.
  • Must be able to work in an active, outdoor environment in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Able to participate in games, sports, and physical activities including water-based games and activities.
  • Able to maintain attention and a high level of energy or excitement for extended periods of time.
  • Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours.
Salary & Benefits:
  • Starting Salary: $3,000

Incentives & Support: Travel stipend, housing and meals included, and a $200 refer-a-friend bonus
