Job Summary:

The UHF/VHF Radio Installation Technician is responsible for the onsite installation, grounding, testing, and optimization of two (2) URC-300 tactical UHF/VHF radio systems at a government/military site in Arizona. The role includes RF cabling using LMR400 transmission lines, antenna mounting, surge protection, grounding, system testing, and documentation to ensure operational readiness in accordance with manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and government requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation & Setup:
• Perform an in-person site visit on 28 January, arriving at 08:30 AM for access, sign-in, and coordination with the site Point of Contact (POC).
• Install two (2) UHF/VHF URC-300 radios at designated customer locations.
• Install LMR400 RF transmission lines, including jumper and flex cables, from the COMM Room to antenna locations using customer-provided pathways and roof penetrations.
• Mount UHF/VHF antennas on conduits using approved weather-head mounts.
• Install polyphasers and surge protection devices.
• Connect power, grounding, and antenna lines to both radio systems.
• Ensure all RF connections are weatherproofed and secured.
2. Testing & Optimization:
• Perform functional testing and signal verification for both installed radio systems.
• Optimize antenna placement and RF performance.
• Verify grounding and bonding compliance.

3. Safety & Compliance:
• Follow all safe work practices and base safety regulations.
• Ensure installations comply with manufacturer recommendations, industry best practices, and site-specific government requirements.
• Maintain compliance with access, escort, and security procedures during the site visit.
4. Housekeeping & Documentation:
• Properly dispose of installation debris.
• Coordinate activities with the base POC.
• Complete and support sign-off of Installation Completion Forms for both radios.
Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience with UHF/VHF radio systems and RF installations.
• Knowledge of LMR400 cabling, RF connectors, grounding, and surge protection.
• Ability to follow technical drawings and installation guidelines.
• Ability to work in secure government or military environments.
Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience on military or government facilities.
• Experience with tactical or mission-critical radio systems.
• OSHA or equivalent safety certifications preferred.
Work Environment:

• Onsite at Arizona location.
• Indoor COMM rooms and outdoor rooftop/antenna locations.
• Normal working hours with base access requirements.
