The Director of Technical Programs reports to the Vice President of Technical Education and Workforce Development. The Director oversees and advances industry-aligned instructional programs, including accreditation, curriculum design, and course development, while ensuring positive, creative, and relevant instructional, accreditation and certification standards and learning environments. The Director manages administrative and instructional leadership duties, faculty support and evaluation, and the use of effective teaching practices. The position works with faculty to create an environment to educate traditional and non-traditional student populations to meet evolving workforce needs through classroom and laboratory instruction using a variety of teaching methods.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or 6 years' experience as an instructor in technical education
- Five years of teaching or curriculum development
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Personnel Management background
- Master's degree in a related field
- Five years management or job training experience
- Experience in applied technology education, educational management, or private business/industry
- Experience with Canvas or other learning management system
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all aspects of Trades programs, including curriculum, instructional quality and, accreditation - in collaboration with Academic Affairs.
- Dedicate time to classroom observations, faculty feedback, and capacity-building to elevate teaching and improve student outcomes, foster quality learning, and student success.
- Evaluate programs and courses, ensuring alignment with accreditation/certification standards and workforce needs.
- Collaborate with Academic Affairs to regularly evaluate faculty and program performance.
- Supervise faculty, management of programs, and resolve operational challenges.
- Coordinate with the Vice President of Technical Education to recruit, hire and onboard program personnel.
- Drive program expansion and development of new courses and programs to meet evolving industry demands.
- Instruct courses within Trades or Business programs as appropriate to maintain instructional connection and relevance.
- Represent in the role as Dean of Technical Education the technical education faculty and programs on the Deans Council.
Focus Statement: Oversee and advance industry-aligned instructional programs
- Coordinate and facilitate enrollment and student success through program delivery and assessments.
- Build robust technical programs, through CTE Pathway work, Industry specific supplemental courses, and outreach teaching/training and assessment sites.
- Champion expansion of industry in demand programs and courses to include additional elective/supplemental courses that meet the skill needs of industry partners.
- Review faculty needs with VP Tech Ed and prepare to make presentations to Deans Council, consider program demand, placement and approved new programs.
- Lead the college side of CTE events held at Snow College (pathway completer events, CTE program days, and industry CTE connective events) to recruit students and secure connections between college CTE faculty, industry partners, and high school teachers
- Develop and carry out outreach campaigns to promote programs for adult learners.
- Expand flexible course delivery options for adult learners.
- In collaboration with TRAC Apprenticeship/Adult Apprenticeship Coordinator director promote apprenticeship opportunities to industry.
- Facilitate communication between instructional and non-instructional departments to ensure seamless student experience.
- Build interdisciplinary opportunities between technical programs and selected academic programs.
- Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement, through collaborating with faculty in setting program goals and alignment with institutional goals - Badger 140.
Focus statement: Work with faculty to hone their skills as technical education teachers that accomplish the vision of technical education and alignment of college priorities.
- Support TE faculty in developing and implementing strategies to improve TE programs, increase enrollment and enhance reputation.
- Work with faculty to further develop the CBE model of delivering Tech Ed programs.
- Provide support and collaboration with faculty in facilitating off-site training opportunities.
- In consultation with the CTE Director, and concurrent enrollment advisors, support faculty in providing concurrent enrollment and dual enrollment opportunities across all CTE pathways.
- Responsible to collaborative work with TE faculty in developing and nurturing industry relationships, building advisory committees and student industry connection opportunities.
- In collaboration with TE faculty implement and run BILT advisory committees in each department/program.
- Focus on increasing completions,
- Increased flexible course offerings (location, evening, weekends, CBE).
- Support faculty in establishing outreach courses in the Six-County area and coordinating and facilitating CBE course progression and skill assessment and pass-offs at the outreach sites and Snowmobile mobile pass-off opportunities.
- Evaluate TE departments and programs based on the TE Dept. Prog. Performance Evaluation rubric and assessment and accreditation standards.
- Support and encourage involvement in outside experiences, for example Skills USA.
- In consultation with V.P. of Technical Education work with faculty to prioritize program needs for supplies and equipment based on long-range plans for development and expansion of industry demand and aligned programs.
