About Us
The Director of Communications & Public Relations in the Department of Communications and Public Affairs at Albert Einstein College of Medicine oversees the strategic communications of the institution’s scientific and biomedical research, medical education, and institutional initiatives and announcements. Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications and Public Affairs, the Director oversees publications, web editorial content, media relations, and social media to further the strategic goals of the institution.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Guide communications and public relations for the Department of Communications and Public Affairs for Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s scientific and biomedical research, medical and graduate education, and institutional initiatives and announcements
Work closely with the Executive Director to establish communications priorities that support the department’s and institution’s strategic goals
Oversee
Einstein
digital magazine, press releases and news briefs, feature stories, and social medical content.
Develop story ideas and think creatively about communications channels and content
Use exceptional writing and editing skills to act as “top editor” for all communications content
Productively collaborate with the departmental colleagues in branding, news, social media, and web to develop and execute integrated communications plans
Act as a resource for College of Medicine departments, offices, and centers for developing strategic communications plans and materials
Use project management and organization skills to ddeptly prioritize and manage multiple projects, often under tight deadline
Provide general communications writing support as needed, including feature stories, short web items, remarks, internal messages, etc
Directly manage a staff of 3
Manage regular freelancers secure new resources as needed
Establish positive and fruitful relationships with faculty and staff in order to develop compelling story ideas
Play active role in coordinating with Montefiore PR and marketing/communications staff for publications and development content.
Serve as a mentor for junior staffers, helping to improve their capabilities and growth as professionals
QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree required• 10+ years working in managing staff or leading communications teams• Prior work in an academic medical or research institution, educational institution, or related non-profit a plus• History of effectively managing and mentoring a small staff
• Excellent written and oral communications skills• Exceptional emotional intelligence to work in a complex academic environment and manage stakeholders• Ability to manage multiple projects on short deadline simultaneously• Strength in detail-oriented project management • Adept with digital office tools and resources• Experience in medial relations and/or social media

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is listed below. Albert Einstein College of Medicine considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Minimum Salary Range
USD $160,000.00/Yr. Maximum Salary Range
USD $170,000.00/Yr.
